Happens all the time - business has some sort of newsworthy event (heck, even installing a new "faster high tech cash register" could qualify) and sends out a press release to local papers. On a slow enough newsday, it gets published.

"Faster checkouts, shorter lines at Joe's Market thanks to new cash registers"

New high tech cash registers have been installed at Joe's Market on Grocery Lane that promise to make checkout a breeze. The new machines can scan your cart without you even having to unload it. Just push your cart past the checker and it will be totalled up automatically. Pay with your ATM card with a radio chip installed and you don't even have to stop! Joe Market, owner of Joe's Market says he installed the new checkouts because he didn't want his customers to have to deal with long lines.

Seriously people, if someone hit a 1.5M Jackpot in Sacramento or some other 'larger' city it would be worth a little article. And this is Lake County! Be cynical if you want, but understand the audience and the community.

The audience and the community? What does that have to do with winning 1.5M? Big town, small town, a million is a million! CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey, dude, don't read it if you don't want to. Winning $1.5 mil doesn't happen every day in Lake County.

Wait until the Liberals get a hold of this one. By the time the Left is done finding every way possible to get their hands on this money in the form of taxes and fees, there won't be anything left of it. Like I said before, all liberals should win a lottery at least once. Only then will they realize what's been happening to them. And by the way, all you people that got a $250.00 "stimulus" check won't be getting your annual cost of living raise courtesy of the money hungry in Washington, DC. You can't blame Bush for this one. The cost of living raise gives folks around $50 more a month...that's $600 a year. So that's what you traded to get your stimulus check. Then realize landlords always raise the rent when the cost of living allowance comes...and guess what...you all lose more money to live on if you rent.

So back to the guy that won something...With the current inflation rate and the Liberal spending spree in printing more money...don't count on this covering much for the future when a loaf of bread hits $100.00

Stores in the midwest and back east have been using these for years. This is old technology. Furthermore, people that try to hide stuff inorder to steal it will find it listed on their receipts as having been paid for. I've used this method of check out before in Central Kansas, and you can also feed your payment into the machine and it counts your money and dispenses change as well. You still have to double-check things for correct pricing.

Congratulations to the winner! You are giving the credit to the wrong ones, TP DID NOT PAY the 1.5 mil it just happens to be the place that the system game owned and operated by IGT was hit. It is know as a WAP or wide area progressive and will take 21 to 26 years to collect in yearly installments. But it is still nice to hear.

AGAIN we have the wisdom of the imbociles. Please do explain how you can "HONESTLY TELL" us the insider scoop......Every heard of a RNG or State Gaming Commission, or GLI, or BMM Labs??
sounds like sour grapes to me.

And AGAIN I REPEAT,
You don't know what you are talking about! Period, plain and simple. You should preface your statement with a disclaimer that this is your "opinion" and only that.
ALL of the casinos whether they are Indian or conventional abide by very strict sets of standards not only overseen by the Manufacturers, but also the numerous regulatory bodies that encompass not only state but federal and independant labs that verify, and guarantee the authenticity of the software that controls the gaming machines.
I notice that in your loquacious diatribe you failed to answer, or deliberatly sidestepped, the questions I previous posed to you, obviously out of ignorance.
Please do explain how they are "RESET/BLOCKED" after you win something. Also please do answer if you have heard of, or know, what a RNG is? How about GLI or BMM ? Here is an easy one for you how about NIGC??
If you have no understanding or knowledge of these regulatory agencies then you opinion is just that "YOUR OPINION!" With your attitude I suggest that you GO FISHING BOB and stay out of casinos!
