Lakeport business owner arrested

The Lake County District Attorney's Office arrested local business owner Glenn A. Neasham Tuesday afternoon on one felony charge of theft from an elder or dependent adult exceeding $950. Two special allegations accompany the felony charge, according to senior deputy district attorney Rachel Abelson, including that the theft amount was more than ... Full Story

Well, his billboard has always been good for a laugh for us. Safe Money Guy - bwahahahaha.

But on a serious note - if you're middle age and still have parents - have that talk with them about finances in general and end of life care in specific. Yeah, it's just about as comfortable a topic to broach as when they had that birds & bees talk with you. It's a LOT easier than trying to clean up a mess afterwards or second guess their wishes.

I'm glad I live within the city limits. At least I won't have to defend my home by myself like the poor saps out in the county.

How many times have we been taught "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is?" When everyone else if offering a fraction of 1% and someone else is offering a "guarantee" of 12 or 14% you should stop and think about it.

Sad for the family that is out the cash, sad for Neasham's family too.

I want to point out, those of you placing blame with local LE and DAs have no idea how investigations of this type work or the financial resources they consume. We do NOT have a forensic CPA in our department. Once the DA's office decided that an investigation was appropriate (which they did a couple of years ago) they had to gather the information and evidence and send it away to the state department of insurance, because that is where the forensic CPAs are. Going through financial records can take several months, and this was certainly not the only case they had going.

Those wanting to blame Mitchell??? WTF, he didn't even have any jursidiction in this case. Might as well blame it on your Aunt or Uncle, it would make as much sense. Santor, the person investigating this locally, followed proper procedure and did what she was supposed to do, and it took about as long as most cases of this type take when they happen in a county that doesn't have it's own resources to scour financial records like these. Santor will do right by the citizens of this county. She works her arse off for all of us, wether we have the grace to appreciate it or not.

See ya Glen, I hoped you were on the level although what you were saying went against my 30+ years of investing. I have on an extremely lucky deal received 20% on an investment, however 7% is the average without tremendous risk.

I got an idea... let's blame Mitchell for the Kennedy assasination, the fall of communism, and hey any other potential thing this gullible society can come up with. People like to sit here and place blame onto someone, often anyone to (a) make themselves look better,(b) make them feel better about themselves or (c) because they can't take blame for all the things they've done wrong. It's real simple... Neasham is a pathetic thief who finally got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Does anyone think the state cares about being sued by him? So far his M.O. has always been to sue people who try and turn him in for fraud and them make them sign non-disclosure agreements as part of the dismissal. Anyone that has seen him go off his rocker and start threatening anyone and everyone around him can attest to his character. Hey while were at it, why don't we blame mommy and daddy for helping him along all these years; while blaming the mormon church for enabling him to be such a pillar of society? Makes sense right?
