Can someone tell me the difference in the "Historic Dirtrict" and a official "Historic" home? Is it the year the house was built or the type of construction or what that makes it historic and how old does it have to be?

I am from "over the pond" and lived mostly in Ireland and England, so I don't consider a house "old" if it was built in the last 200 years.
However, I did some research for you. Here is a link to the National Register of Historic Places:
http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/listing.htm
A building has to be at least 50 years old. The criteria for getting a building on the register are as follows:
The quality of significance in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture is present in districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects that possess integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association, and:

A. That are associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history; or

B. That are associated with the lives of persons significant in our past; or

C. That embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction, or that represent the work of a master, or that possess high artistic values, or that represent a significant and distinguishable entity whose components may lack individual distinction; or

D. That have yielded or may be likely to yield, information important in prehistory or history.

Would anyone happen to know of a book for Plant City Historic Homes?
Something showing, a street and listing the standing home and a bit of its History.. I also seem to have a hard time finding which are in or not in the "PLANT CITY HISTORIC DISTRICT"

I did find a Plant City History which seem to show a short list of Homes, would there happen to be more. Thanks
