One of Florida's largest correctional facilities for high-risk teens, located in Polk County, closed this week. and state officials to shut down another sizable juvenile center this summer.
During the October special session, the state Legislature directed the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to close the 224-bed Polk Juvenile Correctional Facility and move toward programs that have fewer than 165 beds.
When the decision was made to close the Polk facility north of Interstate 4 in Polk City, there were 201 teens in the program.
"The Legislature wanted us to look at smaller programs that promote more community-based access for youth

LOCK AND LOAD..This is your TAX DOLLARS at work for the criminal element to be molded and join the GANGS that will blossom like your inpatients as these hoods are impatient to get the "mark with the boyz".
Starting to look like LA's South Central..

What a waste of taxpayer's money. What is the difference between 165 beds full of thugs and 224 beds full of thugs? 59 less thugs locked up.
These thugs are well on their way to being the murderers and thugs in the Sentinel tomorrow. How many different ways can the legislature waste our money?

I think that it is bull shit that they shut that program down. My boyfriend went there two years ago and it changed his life. if not for that program he could be in prison. juveniles need programs such as the one they shut down because it truely changes the life of these teens.

Well it makes my heart feel soo good to hear that this prison full of dumbasses was closed down, i was there for a year and let me tell you it was no juvenile facility, may as well call it the state pen, every night i sit in my cell wondering what peace of shit officer was going to change the way of the program for the better, i know that bitch ass banks wasnt going to do it, so why not the co's help out and actually help and protect the kids in there??? Because the female co's were to busy suckin and fuckin the inmates, coming in to work with the inmates name tattood on them, please whoever shut it down i thank you, the only good officer in there was "terrance jones", everybody knew jones, his shit was on lock, anyways to all the bitch ass guys in there that tried me please go suck a dick and rott in hell that goes for kelly banks, the therapy pervert "maysonet" and all the fucked up co's that were hired there that didnt have the skills to help the kids..

Can you not see from the total lack of English skills these hoodlums possess that they should be sent to Guantanamo Bay in chains, and kept there until they have learned to talk, learned some skills, and been water-boarded for several years
