The best part was where she claimed she was a councilmember and so naturally thought she had immunity from all the Texas traffic laws, apparently. Either that, or it was meant as a poorly veiled threat towards the arresting officer. Then she claimed he was not a police officer, does it get any better than this?

What a hoot. This person certainly does not belong on a city council.

And you got all this information from a PB police officer. With all the questions about a complete lack of ethics in that department I don't think I would take the officers word as gospel. Business as usual in The Bay.

for your information>You are a bigger part of the problem than I first thought. Can you prove her to be a nasty trashy thang, a skank, and a dope dealer? If you can't---have you ever heard the words liable and slander? She may be the weakest link on the city council, but she was elected which means some of the citizens wanted her. Evidently more than those that didn't, after all she was as I said elected. After the mean and nasty tirade you posted I will question WHO is the garbage that needs to be taklen out.

Seriously Renee, I would have thought you would have gotten a life by now!Do you know these officers personally and what their ethics are? You must be thinking of your old buddy Towns who had the ethics of Satan! He ordered his officers to leave her alone, knowing she was driving with a suspended license. you know that old saying well, you scratch my back,I'll scratch yours. You need to crawl back in your hole and shut up! This isn't your home anymore, it's ours!

concerned watcher>You have no idea who I am, and you make way too many assumptions. I merely stated that the ethics of the PBPD are questioned by a good many people, and that I wouldn't take their word as gospel. I know none of the officers in PB, nor do I know Towns. I only know what I read in the papers, and their ethics are questioned quite often. I do not now nor have I ever lived in PB, your forum does come up on my towns Topix Forum. I do have a life, I do not live in a hole, and I would love to give you a chance to shut me up Jerk Wad. It is people like you that cause decent people to leave The Bay with all possible haste.

obviously you have a good point. unless they have dash cams or do something to record the stop. but she was still driving on a suspended license, or so the news said. not sure if a license that has expired and not been renewed is also considered suspended or not.

wasnt she elected on a 3 way split ticket? that means she was elected by a minority not a majority, just one of those odd quirks about voting. and when one vote can often win an election here, you can see what happens.

Do they have dash cams, and was the news reporter there? I will not question the suspended license, merely the comments she alledgedly made. Again, I will not take the word of a PB police officers word as gospel. As to a split ticket, you are right you can win without a majority; BUT she still had more votes than either of the other two and WAS ELECTED. If she needs to be gone I would suggest in the future have those running against her to sit down and decide if they want her out, then one of them pull out of the race and campaign for the other. That is how you handle it if you want what is best for the city as opposed to political ambition. Think about it.

Threats should be reported to the Tarrant Co. Sheriffs Dept., and the District Atty. Or you could go directly to The Texas Rangers, or the State Atty. General........ You do not have to take threats, do something about it. All kids think they know it all. Remember how much smarter your parents got the older you got.

This is an excellent idea, actually. It might keep her from getting back in on another minority vote.

This is the most important part, and probably deserves its own topic, but I dont have time to mess with it now.

"Budget woes"

Towns contends that one of the reasons he was fired is that the city could no longer afford his salary.

Gary B. Williams, a certified public accountant who conducts the city's audits, has told the council that the city is in financial trouble.

In a letter delivered at last week's meeting, he stated that the city had less than $50,000 in the general fund.(The document was dated March 8, 2008, but Williams said he accidentally used an old form. He said the financial information included was current.)

Williams' letter said in part: "I am greatly concerned about the financial state of the General Fund. This is not rhetoric. THIS IS A FACT!!!..."

"As custodians [of] public funds, we cannot overdraw our accounts. Without a ready source of cash, the City cannot operate," the auditor wrote.

Williams said he has since learned that Pelican Bay has $85,000 on hand. Letters were sent to department heads asking them to get approval before submitting purchase orders.

Williams said the city is behind in approving a 2012-13 budget.

"I'm still worried," he said, describing how Pelican Bay had no controls in place until recently. "We are going to have to make some decisions about our activities; we are going to have to decide what we can do without for the next several months."

I know that the reason there was no accountability is because Robin wouldn't show for meetings, and when she did it was to create a fuss, and protest. so there was often no way for council to work, she basically handed the check book over to the mayor, so for that thanks Robin.
Texan, is Robin folks.
Being a council member gives you no extra privilege, and in fact gives you less, you are the voice of the people and they drive legal so should she. let us just Pray she will be gone after the election.
