This isn't justice. Its' gross stupidity by the very people we elect to see to the interests of ALL the PEOPLE of Florida. This Governor and his RINOs have spent their entire terms thwarting us at every turn, while looking for "victims" that need to be exorbitantly compensated by the tax payers of Florida. I want him to suspend the speed limits in our State. These CRIMINALLY negligent officials can't get out of Tallahassee fast enough!

"The state has agreed to give Marissa and her adoptive family, who now live in the Panhandle town of Marianna,$1.2 million this year and then $1.7 million installments the next 10 years."
Just make sure that the "lucky" adoptive family of Marissa spend the money in Marissa and not in trips, new cars, new houses, boats, etc, etc.

If the government has a system in place to protect children from abuse, why oh why do they not take their advice when the recommend that children NOT be returned to their familes. Shame! Shame! Shame!! My heart and prayers go out to Marissa and her foster family.

To all you moaners and groaners. If you had read the past stories a trust was set up for this child and all expenditures have to be approved by a judge. Keep your $1.16 (the amount per person in the State of Florida). None of you can ever understand what this child or her adoptive family have gone through. Get a life.

Let me get this straight, I'm paying this girl money because a government worker beat her? Oh, no, her mother beat her?
Why am I paying this girl? I mean, it's horrible and I feel sorry for her, but why do I have to pay?

I'm sure that it has been horrible. Where do we draw the line? I mean, that was a rough thing, and 18.2 million of taxpayers money fixes it. On a graduated scale, how much will Charlie Crist be giving my son for getting stitches in a public park? I'm thinking somewhere around 20 grand is in order, right?

You'd better not be wasting my tax money on this. The PARENTS abused the kid, not the state.

Can we at least be fair and pass out 18 million to all the other children who have been abused?
While we are at it, lets raise taxes and food prices to pay for these abused children. Lets make all the tax payers suffer because of what 2 lowlifes did to a child.
Can the government just pay for everything for everybody? We can print money like its nothing, so come on and make everyone in America millionares.

This is Sad. No body is worth 18 million. Not even a baseball player.

This is beyond absurd and is more political correctness.
Disgusting! Shame on Crist for sighing this travesty.

This family needs the money for medical reasons, which as we all know can add up pretty quick especially for a child like this, not to go out and have fun. Her adoptive mom, seems to have a big heart, taking care of children with special needs takes a lot of work and love let alone the expense. I don't mind contributing to this child. I guess some of you just want these children swept under the rug and forgotten. You would rather complain about paying taxes for this little girl. What about our tax money getting spent on illegals? Our S.S. money getting spent on people that can't even speak F***ing English. Now that pisses me off, then a situation such as this. We should all be worried about the picture.

Put rapists and child molesters back on the streets becasue they had bad childhoods! America- what a friggin joke!
