The balancing act of a single father in Delray Beach

At Clarence Weatherspoon 's home, the day often started at 6 a.m.: fixing breakfast, rousing the girls from bed, combing their hair and matching socks with ribbons and dresses.

Why is this news? Could it be it's that difficult to find a single black male doing something right?

the weatherspoons are one of the largest families in the delray beach area. there was always going to be support for mr weatherspoon and his daughters. he is fortunate. there are plenty of single parents out there both men and women who don't have any support system. i hope that next year one of those people is singled out.

You wan to know wha tis wrong with society? Just read Who Cares' and a teachers'(??) comments. There is no real society left when these kinds of remarks are left on a story of success. Obviously the two of them are losers.

Clarence Weatherspoon's obviously a good, decent man. I do understand and agree with "a teacher´s" comment, I would ike to see the spotlight on those out there who are truly on their own, not to take anything away from Mr.Weatherspoon. In regards to "Who cares", never mind, not worth the time. Peace.

you obviously missed the point. it is easy to do the right thing when there is support from an extended family. look at the picture and you can see this is not a family that is living in some run down home or worse yet, homeless. i teach kids who are living with their single parent in a car. i think that parent's struggle is a lot greater than someone who has the ability to be at home with his daughter in a nice home baking cookies.

So, that makes it okay for you to take shots at the effort of this man? There may be people doing the same as him with less, but there are many, many more men doing a whole lot less for their children.

This man, and the many other single parents, deserve our admiration for doing the right thing not your juvenile jealousy.
