<quoted text>I do not think the sexual harassment issues were widespread. They appear to have been limited to just a few idiots. The rest of the problem was the subsequent management cover up/ failure to react properly which the IDPH investigated and cited. If the ARS issues were limited to just this, the resolution would have been relatively simple. They were not and they are not. An organization run in secret by managers who did not manage. They are now trying desperately to hold on to what is left. Why? Time for the professionally run, transparent, and accountable fire dept to take over. None of the issues would have been tolerated or occurred if Antioch had a modern EMS program.
Ha doesn't anyone hear about the time the fire dept took an engine to an accident at 83 & grass lake and were drunk from a dept party and had to call Lake Villa to help. Or how a guy on the fire dept openly admits to taking a girl in santas hut on toft st during Xmas and doing something inside of village property. Or the time at fundraisers fire personnel have given alcohol to someone under 21 and says, "don't worry I'm on the fire dept, you won't get in trouble." Or the multiple guys that have felony charges on their record. But needless to say they are very professional.

Have you brought your accusations to the police or states attorney? Do you have facts and proof or are you just passing on stories? What kind of a person are you if you know your statements are true and have done nothing about it? Talk is cheap. And expected, I think, given the pressure on the ARS. I will take the fire chief over the ARS. The fire chief is an experienced leader who served effectively as FD chief in another Chicago area town for many years. The guy now running the ARS was second in command when the wheels came off at the ARS. You tell me who is better qualified to run EMS in Antioch.

I am a resident in Antioch that has no association with the Rescue Squad. I have read in the papers about the positive changes the dedicated volunteers of the Antioch Rescue Squad have made to our community. I applaud Chief Brian DeKind and his exposure of the corruption of the few bad apples that seemed to plague the Rescue Squad, giving it their bad name. I am glad they feel it is important to send a supervisor with every advanced life support call. This shows they care about our residents. I don't see anything more than an ambulance with 2 people responding in any other surrounding community. I will be writing a letter to the village board to support their decision to stand behind the rescue squad. God bless our volunteers.

I agree with Ms. Stein about the Antioch Rescue Squad. There are great things happening with the Squad, and now that the department has the qualified leadership it deserves, it can continue to serve the residents as it has for over 70 years. Thank you Antioch Rescue Squad!

Hey "Mary" and "Bob", try posting from somewhere other than Costa Rica. Your blatant attempts at manipulation are noted. Now go back to ripping off other companies you represent. And "Mary" be SURE you write a letter to the Village Board thanking them "for their support". But do it soon. ARS will soon be merged into AFD, and you won't get paid for your time. By the way "Mary", there is almost no support on the Village Board for anything other than an orderly transition. You see, "Mary", they have truth on their side. Something that must be very hard for you to relate to.

Now go get some more rum "Mary" and take the time to explore what is left of your conscience as you fall into another drunken stupor. As they say there, buracho es usted.

By the way "Mary", cross utilization and dual response is in Antioch to stay. They days of ARS being the only EMS support are GONE, and GOOD RIDDANCE to the past. Saving lives is more important than screwballs at the ARS protecting "their" turf. You don't like it? Too bad for you. But great for the residents of Antioch. Plan on help from AFD if you are in need of emergency life support. They will take care of you until ARS shows up. Thank you Village Board for getting this in place over screams of protest from ARS and two compromised board members of the First Fire District. Van Patten and Pederson need to get with reality and start worrying about human life instead of their piss ant role given them by the former president of ARS. Shame on both of them for resisting what made sense. Fortunately, the Antioch Village Board made it happen in spite of these two has beens.. They need to go too.

Brian Dekind was involded in the coverup and mismanagement from the start. Brian Dekind is the one who refused to allow ARS members call the fire dept for help, instead made them call another town who took twice as long to get there. Dekind was just as much in it as everyone else, running around town like a maniac in his black SUV with enough lights to blind a person. How about the fact that his company does computer work for the village, conflict of intrest?

I wouldnt go that far, I am sure he was drawing a comission, or ARS wasnt being charged for insurance, or something along those lines. This was another one of those ARS getting a deal on something from a local buisness that was friendly with ARS.
Yep I think thats called conflick of interest !

Getting insurance is a conflict of interest? I'm sure no doubt the rescue squad paid for their insurance. I'm sure insurance on emergency services equipment is expensive as all heck!

Not a conflict of interest as king as there were multiple bids for an insurance contract and they happened to be the low bidder in a process overseen by neutral and qualified outside observers. If all of those things did not happen THERE IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND PERHAPS VIOLATION OF THE LAW. Wake up "Dean".

You want to talk about a coflict of Interest how about the Township supervisor giving the work of installing the Civil Defense sirens to Bucom of Wauconda where his Brother Jeff is Vice President of the company, and all the radio equipment at Fire Station-3 for the township weather station and the soon to be 100' radio tower they are about ready to install as soon as they get the permits they need. You can see the base of the tower on top of the ground at the rear of the station next to the Golf Course. This is a complete conflict of intrest, but the Voters put this idiot back in office. He took the Rescue Squad down the tubes and now he is taking the Township down also!! Come on trustees WAKE UP!!

No competitive bidding? If so, it's time for prosecution of all involved.

You can also be sure HE is the reason the ARS is still the ambulance provider in the township. he told the FFD board approve a 1 year contract to put pressure on the village to do the same in a failed effort to save the sacred cow ARS. SO glad we have a strong village board who did not buy into the BS. Wishing the township residents well in case of an emergency. If circumstances permit, consider self transport to the Antioch FD for professionally managed emergency care.

Why is there a township government anyway? What do they do that the county couldn't do? Why can't the village be contracted for some services to eliminate duplicate jobs and wasteful spending in the township? Why are personal empires allowed to continue? Wake up voters. You already live in a corrupt mismanaged state. Do you need even more in your neighborhood?

This so called emergency management for the township actually has no legal authority. The township emergency management falls under Lake County Emergency Management, handled by AFD, and Lake County Sheriff. Township tax dollars are going to some guy, sitting out there, spending money, with no authority to do anything. It was given to him because Smouse wants to make his own little thing out there.

Smouse and Sobczak are almost certainly pulling Dekinds strings. Township tax payers need to start asking some serious questions of the leadership out there.
