Red light camera 120 and 12

What do you think of my solutions to this?
1. Do Not Visit Lakemoor Businesses Until The Red Light Camera at Route 12 and 120 Is Removed. Be sure to let the businesses know that you won't be patronizing them due to the camera.
2. Furthermore, if you safely turned right on red, personally I wouldn't pay the ticket. It is an ordinance violation only and will not be reported to the Secretary of State nor will it be reported to your insurance. They cannot report these to the state until they rack up 5 UNPAID tickets. This is the law.
3. They have no way of knowing whether or not you got the notice in the mail unless you go online to view the video. Don't view it.
4. Submit a FOIA request with the village requesting hard copies of the police chief reports to the village board that contain the red light camera data for the last 4 months. Tell them if those pages end up being more than 50 pages then reduce it by one month. The first 50 pages of a FOIA request is free. Perhaps once these things start costing THEM money, they will disappear.
UPDATE: I did not respond or pay this "ticket." They hilariously increased the fine to $200 and I haven't responded or paid. Nothing has happened. It's been 4 months. The most they can do is to send it to collections but it's not worth it for them to do that apparently.
I like the boycott idea too. Maybe with enough the business owners crying foul the city will finally wake up. The FOIA request is hysterical. I like how your mind works.

Have you ever really been in any of the stores along rt12 ?
This isn't like Vernon Hills.
These stores are barely hanging on.
They can't afford a true boycott. They wouldn't last that long.
What will happen if you can get a boycott going is they'll layoff workers. Then cut hours. Then go out of business.

Meanwhile the towns ( there is no city along rt 12 ) will keep the cameras.
There will still be enough traffic coming back and forth from Wisconsin and Chicago to make money off those cameras.
That traffic could care less about those stores.

Meanwhile local people who shop there will lose out.
Local people who work there will lose out too.
And they sure in hell won't be supporting you and your cause after you put them out of a job.

I'm against these cameras too. But i don't want to see people lose their jobs just because of some misguided notion that a boycott would gain their support.

What is wrong with you guys ?
Its NOT the business owners fault. They didn't install these cameras.
Why punish them ?
They have no political clout. They can't take out these cameras.
The politicians who installed them didn't do it for or because of these businesses.
They did it just to make money.
These politicians don't care about these business.
A boycott won't change their minds.
If you were serious instead of posting silly you would vote them out of office.

This is a serious matter you shouldn't be treating this silly with post about boycotts.
People working there depend of those jobs.
Comments like your could hurt their livelihood.

Boycott the businesses in Lakemoor and Volo, and let them know why!!! I will take my business elsewhere until these cameras are down!

Go elsewhere.
If you won't even spend the time to ask these businesses how they feel then they don't need your business.
My guess is you never shopped there to even know how tough it is for them right now.
You certainly don't even know there is NOTHING they can do about those cameras.
So go elsewhere no great loss for them to lose a customer they never had.

I was thinking about attending the next Chamber meeting. I am going to talk to them about the boycott possibility. This way they will be made aware. I talked to my son and I think we are going to post some signs too.

Why dont you go elsewhere? If you dont like it fine., you have a right to your opinion. It looks like most people on here disagree with you. Since you dont seem to understand that the city listens to business owners a bit more than us common folk. This is my town and I DO shop here EVERY day. And if the city doesnt listen to us, maybe they will listen to them. And if you dont understand that so be it.

Not rude at all.
In post #46 YOU are the one posting about wanting to go elsewhere.
I was agreeing with you.
I think YOU should go elsewhere.

What city are you talking about.
Fox Lake, Lakemoor, Volo are towns not cities.

You don't have a gasp at all of the situation.
These stores are not going to support you.
Not if you intend to boycott them.

Big difference between what happened in Vernon Hills and Volo.

The roads in Vernon Hills that had the red light cameras were roads leading to the stores.
They were put there to catch customers and store employees.
Therefore the stores did have a vested interest in removing them.
They also had the money and clout to fight with.

The roads in Volo with the cameras are mostly used for travelers not shoppers.
Rt 12 major road running from downstate into Wisc.
Rt 120 major road cutting across IL.
These travelers are the targets of the cameras NOT the store customers or its employees.

That is a HUGE difference.
These stores don't have the clout or money that the stores in Vernon Hills had.
They cannot force the cameras to go away.
All you are going to do is hurt innocent people with families.
These cameras are not going away.
What will go away are these stores and the jobs they provided.

You think i care if you agree with me ?
Here is a heads up for you.
I care about the families who depend on that paycheck.
I care about the stores i shops at that you just pretend to shop at.

I think this is a great idea. Why don't you post when this is, that would be helpful. And just an FYI, just ignore Mr Antagonistic, the rest of us usually do. He likes to yap but doesn't like to listen or grasp anyone else's opinion.

What part of any of your post did i miss ?
Was it the boycott idea because i think i read that a few zillion times.
In fact i got it enough to respond to it.

How about what i wrote ?
Since you never commented on it i guess you missed all of it.
So if anyone isn't listening or unable to gasp it then it would be you.

ROTFL as if you would actually show up let alone suggest something as stupid as boycotting those stores.
Please do show up and make a fool of yourself with that boycott idea.
I'll be listening for it.

I guess you still can't answer my question.
What part of any of your post did i miss ?

Just as well you would only make a fool of yourself talking about a boycott you could never pull off.
The real laughable part is you actually think stores will support you after you threaten a boycott.

Who do you think store owners really hate ?
Politicians who put in cameras to catch travelers ?
Or idiots who boycott their stores for something they have no control over ?

Please don't bother answering. Your boycott idea is foolish enough.
