i am so pissed, i just got another $100 ticket. make sure to stop at the white line for a few seconds. then you have to pull up 5 or 6' so you can see the oncoming traffic.
frustating thing is they sent me to separate tickets for the same incident a few seconds apart. so obviously they're churning these tickets out without even reviewing them. there is enough video they show on mine and i see the next driver do the same thing i did; must be a goldmine for lakemoor.
Now you see why I try to avoid these Monry makers you can do everything right which I think you did,Stopped proceeded forward to see oncoming traffic and still got tagged! is there any why you can detour around this I call Trap?

What do you think of my solutions to this?
1. Do Not Visit Lakemoor Businesses Until The Red Light Camera at Route 12 and 120 Is Removed. Be sure to let the businesses know that you won't be patronizing them due to the camera.
2. Furthermore, if you safely turned right on red, personally I wouldn't pay the ticket. It is an ordinance violation only and will not be reported to the Secretary of State nor will it be reported to your insurance. They cannot report these to the state until they rack up 5 UNPAID tickets. This is the law.
3. They have no way of knowing whether or not you got the notice in the mail unless you go online to view the video. Don't view it.
4. Submit a FOIA request with the village requesting hard copies of the police chief reports to the village board that contain the red light camera data for the last 4 months. Tell them if those pages end up being more than 50 pages then reduce it by one month. The first 50 pages of a FOIA request is free. Perhaps once these things start costing THEM money, they will disappear.

UPDATE: I did not respond or pay this "ticket." They hilariously increased the fine to $200 and I haven't responded or paid. Nothing has happened. It's been 4 months. The most they can do is to send it to collections but it's not worth it for them to do that apparently.

BTW, some red light companies and towms actually SHORTEN the length of the yellow lights to raise more "revenue."

my answers still remain the same.
You're hurting small businesses that had NOTHING to do with your ticket.

TUE but there is nothing we can do about it except vote out the politicians who approved of these cameras.

Hey MM, they should throw that guy in jail too, right. Throw them all in jail. Even the drivers that go through those red lights, throw them in jail, for life.

All of my posts on the red light/speed cameras have been against the cameras and for the drivers.
So clearly i wouldn't advocate what you are advocating.
You are alone in that view.
I'm sure the driver who got that unfair ticket realizes you're the only one against him.

Absolutely agree. It's worked in Vernon Hills and other towns. As soon as the storeowners started complaining to the village the issue was dropped.

I also think the FOIA request idea is brilliant.

It only worked in Vernon Hills because it was a HUGE shopping mall with lots of major stores. As well as numerous strip malls around too.
That is a lot of clout.

The stores around RT120 & RT12 don't have anywhere near that kind of clout.
They can't change any politicians mind.
So by boycotting them all you're doing is hurting the employees who work there.
Sooner or later those stores will have to cut back on workers and/or their hours.

Sorry that is not a brilliant idea.

what is so brilliant about boycotting a bunch of stores that had nothing to do with those lights being put in ?
What is so brilliant about forcing those stores to lay off workers because business is down thanks to your boycott ?

Vernon Hills had literally hundreds of stores ( many of them MAJOR chain stores ) to force the town officials into giving up the lights.
Volo only has a dozen or stores mostly small family own none of which can force the village to do anything.
Meanwhile people will lose their job over it.
So again how is boycotting them brilliant ?

I love this! They boycott idea is great. We need to get the businesses involved so they can feel our pain! The FOIA thing is great too. Wish I would have thought of this when I got my ticket for my right hand turn over the line. This is all just getting crazy with the cities putting their hands in our pockets

Why not stop like everyone is supposed to at the 12/120 light? Take responsibility for your own behavior and choices not to stop and quit whining about the tickets you deserved to get!So instead of boycotting the local merchants, just boycott the light so the rest of us don't have to worry about law breaking drivers.

You're living in a fantasy. Stores do NOT support a boycott against them.
These stores out here are mostly small businesses not MAJOR dept. stores.
The few store that could be considered big ( Home Depot, Jewel Foods, Dominick's ) are struggling these days. Especially out here.
Look at what happened when Dominick's went out of business in Round Lake. It never came back.
They will never support a boycott.
What will happen is they will lay off even more workers.
The small stores will close up. Which loses more jobs.
That is what your boycott will do.
Drivers on RT120 and RT12 will still use those roads for travel and still get camera tickets.
The town politicians will not remove them because of a stupid boycott.
Everyone who loses a job should remember you and your boycotting friends.
These stores had NOTHING to do with these cameras.
Yet you would punish them for it.
Punish the real person responsible for the cameras. Vote out guys like Bender who helped put in those cameras.
Try and help save American jobs not destroy them.

Hit them where it hurts, Jury trails, continuances, motions, make the township work for their extortion money. They will drop it every time because they don't want to spend the resorces to collect $100.

I've never had one of these tickets.
So i don't know if you can request a jury trial. I'm sure you can request a judge.
I did once for a rear end accident and won.
But i do know one think - they won't drop the case every time.
They will spend the taxpayers money to pursue it.

Again the real only way to get rid of these cameras is to vote out the politicians who put them in and make sure any other politician knows they too will get voted out over it.

I'm glad you're against the boycott.
Finding routes around a light or camera works sometimes but not always.
Frontage roads only go so far.

Not everyone deserves these ticket.
The white line you have to stop at is so far back you can't see cross traffic on that southeast corner.
Not to mention the fact in winter you can't see where the line is.
So its easy to get a ticket there stopping yet going past the camera point.

Anyway boycotting stores that had NOTHING to do with these cameras being installed is just wrong.
