Sounds like you're just another lemming following the crowd instead of thinking reasonable for yourself.
You obviously don't shop there.
If you did you would see that these businesses are barely hanging in on.
In fact Dominick's will probably be out of business within a year or two even without a boycott.
All you would accomplish is putting people out of job.
I guess that makes you feel big and important.
WOW you took food off of someone's table just because you fear a camera.

Who the hell are you? Because I disagree with you? Get a life bud, looks like you need one. I happen to live in Ingleside and shop in the area all the time.

I guess putting people down on a topic forum makes you feel like a big shot? Good for you pal, whatever works for you, you must need it.

I think keeping my business away from the area and letting the politicians AND business owners know why is a great idea.

As for you, I think you need a life and I could give a crap about what you think, where you shop, or what you have to spout off about. It appears I'm not the only one that feels that way. Good luck to you Bud, you must need it.

In my opinion RED LIGHT cameras are for the lack of better words a gold mine for the town. All they do is generate revenue for the PD and the town. There is no way to tell if the ticket you got was your mechanic test driving your car, your friend ect there is no way to tell. AND I know it happened to me told them I would not pay # 1 because i can not drive a stick shift car which is what this was because it was in the shop and the mechanic took it for a test run. Needless to say, it has been 3 years and have not heard a word about it. These cameras all need to go.OR they need to give a little leniency on things such as turning right when there is no signs clearly marking that it is a NO TURN on red area. That alone is not even justifiable!

I was turning right to go north from 120. Many times cars to your left are past the line so one must move forward to see around them. Also many intersections have paper signs advertising whatever and block the view of cars coming at you (which I consider a serious safety issue). So when I go to my hearing I am going to ask for removal of these Lakemoor Real Estate development signs, information on how to see around obstructions to your left while not going across the proverbial "white line". I'm a bus driver, so maybe I'll get a sticker for my rear window that states "This vehicle does not make right turns in Lakemoor Illinois.

I travel the area for my job. I purposely avoid any intersections and areas that have the red light cameras. I refuse to shop in any towns that have red light cameras. I refuse to be a pawn in the quest for income in these greedy towns. That's what it's all about people. Greed. Nothing more. Not about safety, money. If you research the percentage of right turn violations vs speeding thru the light its perfectly clear. The only reason these cameras are in place are to steal from normal law abiding citizens who for the most part are obeying the law. Creeping past the white line to see traffic, not stopping for as long as the watchdogs want, etc. The "gotcha" attitude in these towns is bull crap. Maybe if the revenues from the businesses starts dropping these towns will wake up and smell the coffee.

Gurnee has a ton of red light cameras but you NEVER shop there right? This whole forum still makes me laugh! So much crying over such a simple problem. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OBEY THE LAW!

The cameras will never go away while there are bad drivers feeding them! I drive through Gurnee about 3 times a week and I have NEVER gotten a red light ticket! I drive through Lakemoor almost every day and I have NEVER gotten a red light ticket. I may write a book explaining how I do it! Maybe I will title it "Driving for Dummies".

Now really, quite crying and worry about the bigger problems our country is facing!

If you think that red light cameras are set up for safety I have some waterfront property I'd love to sell you. That's a good one! And I will write a book called "Reading for Dummies". I'm sure you will be unable to comprehend that either.

If you think stealing money from citizens is not a problem YOU are part of the problem. Now really, QUIT making flippant comments on topics you clearly can not comprehend.

Nope, don't shop in Gurnee. Your comments make me laugh! It makes me laugh when dolts like you think that stopping over a white line is a serious crime that must be punished by paying $100.
It's people like you that perpetuate the problems in our governments. The fact that you don't think it's a problem is in itself a problem. Are you one of those state workers raking in the pension bucks too? You probably don't see a problem with that either, lol.

When people like "wake up" make silly statements like "obey the law" it's obvious they have no idea what these cameras have been placed there for. First of all, they are placed by local municipalities and are governed by ordinances, not state laws.

The municipalities rake in the dollars for these income generators. 95% of the ticket dollars come from Hollywood type stops or stopping over a white line.

They have zero to do with safety. The reduction of yellow light times in order to increase revenue is grounds for a lawsuit for these money grubbing towns. Wait for them, they are soon to come.

Just got a ticket in the mail today for a violation at this intersection a full month ago. It takes an entire month for them to process this? Sounds like Lakemoor needs more money to pay for a second "tv watcher". I got the ticket for braking well behind the line, coming to an almost complete stop over/across the line, then proceeding when I saw the green left turn arrow appeared for the traffic on 12. ANY other intersection would've had a green right arrow appear for me when I had made my turn, but this town clearly needs more money to add that to their traffic lights. Until then, I guess their red light cam is staying there to help pay for it. I am definitely contesting as I have seen SOOOO many people pull some of the dumbest crap on the road (ESPECIALLY at this light), and I end up getting charged for this piddly BS? Get a life, Lakemoor PD. If anything, this inspired me to become a worse driver so I can actually justify getting this ticket.

Yeah sure sounds like you guys want to work with businesses NOT.
You guys are so phony.
I'm on my third right turn on red ticket violation at that intersection in the last two weeks. I'm staying away from 120 & 12 which means the local businesses will be the ones that lose out.

Lakemoor, an ugly stinky town with cameras. Stay away and don't shop there until those cameras are removed. They do not care safety, instead they're greedy!

I got a ticket in the mail as well. When I went on the website, there was another one. I contested by mail and told them that I will pay 1, not both the tickets. The first one, the light had just barely turned red. In the second one, I had the brake lights on, I did not come to a complete stop. I don't want to pay $200.
Has anyone had any luck contesting these tickets? Should I appear for an in-person hearing instead?
Hi GMAN- I also had the same situation- what was the reply on paying one but not the other?$100 is pretty steep, but now that I know where the camera is I will be careful about driving through the intersection. I didn't come to a complete stop because there was traffic turning left on the other side of the intersection so I presumed it was safe to proceed with the right.

Unfortunately, common sense can no longer be used in this country. We have to have laws and ordinances to break so more money can be made. Something so ridiculous as $100 for a right hand turn violation has become normal and acceptable to us. That is a huge problem and we have to make it stop.

Showed up to the scheduled hearing last month and I didn't have to say anything more than "Thank you" as the judge took one look at the video and cleared the $100 fine. Done and done.

The people of Los Angeles caused such a ruccus that they got the city to remove the red light cameras. That's what we need to do. If everyone does not pay, they will have no choice but to get rid of them. These are not real moving violation tickets and are not enforceable in a court of law. This whole thing is nothing but a revenue making scam and its the public that they are scamming. They hire a police officer to review the tickets but that's as far as the police are involved- and you can get a ticket whether your the driver of the car at the time of the incident or not! This is nothing more than a way to drum up revenue for a broke town. Stop paying them. Boycott businesses. Do whatever you can to get the message across to these scammers in local government-we will not be taken for the proverbial ride. All the town does is send it to a collection agency. Nothing else happens. Don't pay. Its the only way to let them know we have had enough!

If you are issued a ticket at an intersection that has a red light camera, then YOU did something wrong. And if you have received multiple tickets at the SAME location, then maybe you shouldn't be driving to begin with since you failed to learn the lesson that your driving stinks!
Boycotting the local businesses because you got a ticket just shows that while you still can't take responsibility for your own actions, you don't have a clue about economics, government or the rules of the road. Maybe its time to grown up, quit whining and find another route to your destination.

You can't trust a police force that lets their friends drive drunk, sell drugs and commit aggravated battery. must be nice when the lakemoor cops are your friends. Oh, yes I trust Lakemoor, yeah right. Hear at the lakemore police dept by a retired judge who gets paid by the village? Something hear screams scam.
