the ONLY thing you got right is i don't boycott.
I don't believe in hurting American workers.
There are other ways to make a point and to achieve what you want in life without hurting Americans trying to put food their tables.
I love how you try switch gears and insinuate that the businesses are ripping customers off. The store prices along rt12 are the same as anywhere else. So that is another of your typical lies.
Businesses don't cry that is another one of your more stupid lies.
Businesses do what they can to tighten their belts by layoffs and other such measures.
My 10 cent spending ? LOL i probably give away more in a yr then you spend in a lifetime. Its people who care that keep the economy going not people who boycott. I dare you to show me proof that boycotting helps workers.
The people who are listening are the newly elected officials because they know this is one of the issues that got the other politician voted out and them voted in.
THAT is how its done.
Voting is how these things actually get accomplished.
No Mr Narcissist, I did not insinuate the businesses are ripping customers off, I said the TOWNS are ripping the customers off. If businesses want to keep their customers in these red light towns, they better start doing something about it. Until then, I take my business elsewhere. Hope I made that simple enough for you to grasp.

Mr Narcissist strikes again
I haven't lied about anything, just posted my opinion and thoughts on the matter. I will do my best to not shop in a town that has red light cameras. No lies, just a statement. Sorry that you still can't grasp that. Here's hoping you get that help that you desperately need.

the only one who whines on here is you
I actually used to do ALL my shopping in Gurnee. Not anymore, only local for me. I'd rather spend my money in towns that support their customers and businesses. Boy, for someone who whines and cries about people discussing your personal life you sure are interested in mine. Must be the Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Poor Mr 60 something Fox Lake guy who likes to go out and spend all his millions at the stores on Route 12. ROTFL.

Mr. Narcissist Mystery Man is not boycotting. A few other posters are. I avoid shopping in Gurnee period. I prefer to shop in Antioch, Round Lake and anywhere else that doesn't have the cameras. At some point you have to take a stand. If it means driving a bit further and planning ahead I do it. I would prefer to take my dollars somewhere where it is wanted and appreciated. Not somewhere where they hope you stop over a white line and owe them 100 bucks.
Completely agree. I stopped shopping in Gurnee also for a couple of reasons, but the red light cameras really pissed me off. I got mine at Hunt Club and Grand. Right hand turn, stopped over the line, cost me $100. Well, Gurnee will not get another dime from me if I can help it. I am sick to death of people thinking that this is an OK system. It is a complete rip off of law abiding citizens. If the businesses start feeling the wrath maybe they will start doing something about it.

That is so funny! "If they told me my driving stinks maybe I wouldn't have gotten another ticket!" Should they teach you every rule of the road, just so you don't do anything else wrong? Everyone is responsible except you right? Blame your driving instructor or the DMV for doing such a bad job that they gave you a license in the first place. What a sad statement about today's society, no one can take resposibility for what they do wrong!

I contested both- had to follow them up only to get a call saying I didnt win. I was told to expect an official letter this week.
this was my letter:Dear Village of Lakemoor,
I am writing to contest 2 red light violations that I recently received XXXXXX, XXXXX
The 1st violation I received was at that very same intersection on Feb. 17,2013 but I wasn’t notified until after March 11, 2013. That is more than 3 weeks past the violation date. I was then accused of another violation that happened on March 3,2013 but I wasn’t notified of it until more than 3 weeks had past. If I was notified of it sooner, I could of avoided getting the 2nd one. I would have been able to adjust my driving habits right away to avoid the 2nd violation.
There was nothing dangerous in the way I made the turn. From looking at the video, I could tell that I slowed down to a complete stop before making the turn, there was no oncoming traffic so I made the turn, everything was perfectly safe. I did have to creep up after I stopped to look to make sure that it was safe to proceed.
I hope you take my contest in consideration.

This is a double edge sword.
On one hand if someone is getting ticket after ticket for the same thing at the same location yeah they need to wake up.

On the other hand some of these cameras are located not in high accident areas but rather sections where they think they can grab the most right turn on red violations.

For example the one of rt12
the white line you're suppose to stop at to make a right turn is really way to far back.
You cannot see cross traffic from that line.
Logically you need to move up to a point of clear visibility.
But doing so will now get you that ticket.

That camera was place there to make money not to slow down traffic for safety.
Still you're right if someone even there is getting ticket after ticket ( probably DUH ) they deserve that ticket.
Like me they should just wait for the green arrow or light to go.
I could care less how many want to beep at me for waiting.
They wouldn't be paying my ticket.

Whats wrong with this society is people like you who think someone should pay $100 for something so ridiculous as stopping over a white line. Is "thank you sir may I have another" your favorite line?

Jumping into the fray now because I just got my ticket in the mail, viewed the video,$100 for stopping over the line. For the record, you can call me a rich bi-ch if you like, but I live downtown on the Gold Coast, have a place in Lake Geneva and got ticketed driving yes - a Mercedes. I'm saying this to point out that I drive through here FREQUENTLY, buy gas and groceries, odds and ends, etc. So YES - I have money to spend and do spend it here. And it may not be fair to boycott local businesses, but I can't vote in your local elections so what other option is there? I've written to the McHenry Chamber of Commerce and the Lakemoor Village Hall, but that's just for my peace of mind - they're not going to listen to a non-resident, non-taxpayer just driving through. I'm exactly the person they're hoping to snare. And this kind of BS happens in the city too, but at least they have signs and no nonsense about 'stopping over the line.'

Daisy thank you for your post.
It was totally on topic, well written, clean, and you brought up some good points.
I don't judge a person by their pocket book.
This issue isn't about that. It is about taking innocent drivers like yourself as well as locals for money over a bad law.
I agree that even if you stop chances are you're going to go over the line if you want a clear view of traffic. Hence the ticket.
True you can't vote in our election but at least you realize that is where the solution is.
What you can do is support those who are running for elections.
You can sign petitions against this law.
You can encourage those who can vote to vote.
You can explain to them that their vote is the real solution.
You were an innocent driver who was penalized.
So please don't penalize innocent shop owners.
Don't treat them the way you were treated. You're better then that.
Thanks again for your post.

According to the Police, Accidents in that particular intersection have been reduced by almost 75% due to those cameras. While I agree, a 100 dollar fine is steep, they do help with safety. If the light is red, you have to come to a complete stop, if you don't then technically it's a violation. I guess it is what it is.

Businesses usually are very receptive to helping real customers.
What turns them off from helping is when non customers rant on here about wanting to boycott them.
In truth there really isn't much they can do about it.
These cameras were placed in here by politicians greedy for money.
As long as people vote for these clowns the cameras will stay regardless of any boycott.
If you are honestly serious about wanting to protest then go where it actually could influence the outcome.
Go to the politicians and protest them and push for them to be voted out.
If they thought their political career would be over they would get rid of these cameras today.

I disagree. I think they have a LOT to do with it. And I think most residents agree with me, if you read the posts. Money always influences politics and businesses have the money. I say go after the businesses.
