How can Round lake high School Have a Male for homecoming QUEEN!! Definition of a queen is a WOMAN! Someone is designated a QUEEN by gender NOT BUT SEXUAL PREFERENCS. What the hell is going on at Round Lake high school. I advise everyone with a child in round lake to boycott the homcoming proceedings and to not support the school in any way.

I agree, that is absolutely ridiculous. And I suppose all the polically correct idiots will jump on the bandwagon and support that bullshit. What an embarassment to round lake schools, as usual. No one has the guts to speak whats really on their mind.

So why don't you take care of it? You're both a bunch of ignorant residents - that's even if you reside in Round Lake. What is it to you what the high school is doing? If you have kids there, maybe you should have been better in life; this way you would of had the opportunity to be financially stable to not live in a town that respects all sexual orientations. You would have been able to send your child to a private school where they could have become as ignorant as you and hated everything they didn't recognize and believed in. The issue isn't that the high school agrees to support students in the way they want to live and see the world, the problem is you.

So as I stated, if you don't believe that it's the right thing get on it. Do something, make a difference.

tradition is a key what about the girls who want to be homecoming queen?as for respecting peoples sexual orientation that is every persons right and should never be infringed upon.but also tradition is something that should not be infringed upon, alumni started this tradition as a male and female not gay or straight wich is sexual orientation.do some research.i do recognize one thing your name, you accidentally hit s when your name was posted.

Current students create new traditions. Things change and so do times. Don't be upset because the tradition you recognize and are used to is no longer being taken into effect. Stop living in the past. The time is their own now to make choices and decisions. As far as for the alumni, who cares? They have moved on and left that part of their life. These students will also be alumni, therefore, they should be able to create their own new traditions without asking the rest of you if you agree. It's not about you and your feelings anymore, except what's here. You can cry, complain, and disagree about it but it's still happening. I am ecstatic that whichever individual who volunteered to openly want to be homecoming queen, had the courage to follow through with what they've wanted. I'm sure it wasn't easy for the student or the school, it's nice to see the school empowering students to achieve what matters to them. The student body had to of supported the decision to get enough votes to qualify for a spot - that being said, it's also more amazing to see their peers supporting each other.

For someone who "appears" to be supportive you sure cast judgement in the same against anyone who has a different opinion other than yours. Who are you to say someone should of done better in life so that our children aren't a part of this community? Who are you to say all the alumni has moved on from the town & our opinion as residents doesn't matter? How do you know my kid didn't go to a private school already & that is where some of this conviction of tradition comes from? You clearly have checked your magic ball and found all the righteous answers & with that I say beg your pardon bitch! Let's have this conversation in person! My treat, give me your name, preference of meeting location & we can hash this one out over lunch! Let's talk about character, tradition, tolerance & kids & your involvement in our community including the volunteer time I am sure you have sketched time for out of your ver busy blogging schedule.. Let's chat! My bet is you either won't respond or you will reply with some obnoxious remark & won't meet me like an adult who stand by what they post on the internet & instead hide behind your computer screen or you will say NO you give me your info first!

I'm sure you feel victimized about my comments. But, they are facts. Everyone has a choice to censor their kids from lifestyles they don't approve of if they are able to. I simply stated that if the standards of this community are not something you agree with, maybe they should leave. No one is going to come knocking on your door to ask if you agree with a male student being a queen. Maybe the fact is that you're just not as important or as involved for your opinion to matter. I wasn't referring to alumni not caring or not being involved, my point is, who cares what they think. It's not about the alumni. It's about the students there now wanting to make traditions of their own. Be upset and be mad for what I'm saying, but its not going to change what is. It seems that you're reaction to my comments definitely upset you, please keep in mind that I am not saying living in Round Lake is a bad thing, it's just a bad thing that you find Round Lake being a bad place for wanting to support future generations. As for meeting you, I am deeply honored at your invitation however, I've been speaking to people of your habitual intellect for a long time now and I don't think it's worth meeting you to hear your reasons for what is and why it should. It won't change a thing for how I feel about people who disagree with change and it sure will not change what the high school has chosen to do.

Thanks again.

I grew up in Round Lake and I went to RLHS until my Junior year. I'm so proud of these kids and this school to see how supportive they are of the LGBTQ community. Being a lesbian myself I was always open in school about who I was and Round Lake was one of the more supportive schools that I have experienced. Because it was a small school we all knew each other and accepted each other. If someone used anti LGBT slander then the football team would have something to say. If you truly think that the school should be boycotted then you know nothing of that school or its kids. This is 2012 not 1980/1990. This is the world now. The acceptance of LGBT kids is greatly needed especially in the time if bullying and kids killing themselves. If you don't support it then don't, that's your choice but these kids can go on this thread just like I did and read the hateful words you post. Be the bigger person and just don't post about the topic. If you don't have anything nice to say about the matter then don't say anything. We've all had hardships but let this not be one for these kids. Let them love their lives as they want, with whom ever they want. Don't be the reason a kid decides to pick up a razor, or decides to open a pill bottle. Keep the hate away from high schools.

Woah woah woah. Unless you've been through the school system don't assume the schools are dumb. I'm really getting tired of all this ignorance. Let the kids be who they want!

Wow. This is pretty hurtful. I knew what I was doin when I decided to run for this and I knew how controversial this was going to be.. but to the school, not to the people who lives are way past high school. I would have perfered to be the king as well but due to these traditions I had to result to the queen postion to still get my point across. I didn't do this to cause hate. I didn't just do it for the LGBTQ Community. I did it for everyone who never felt popular enoughb or pretty enough, the odd kids. I wanted them to know that your accepted and anyone has the EQUAL opportunity. And to go as far as boycotting the school.. don't even take it there because the faculty did not vote, you'll just be boycotting your children for being open minded.

Doesn't the King and Queen have to dance at Homecoming ? AWKWARD. Make sure this story gets to the PATCH so they can spread the news about our lack of faculty and school board in put. Turn a blind eye to this one RL faculty. There is other ways of to show you want to be noticed. But big productions ( homecoming ) get big news ( Queen ).

No. We decided not to dance. But, what would make it awkward? Its not like I haven't danced with my bestfriend before. It wasn't for the attention either. I really didn't think ppl outside of RLHS would even care.. but because its so controversial you guys made it like that. Not our fault. Homecoming was so last weekend. No one isn't even talking about it anymore. New topic.

I have 2 kidswho go there, and no one should care about ones sexual choices, but don't break traditions for..This ...The school is already look down at, now here is another reason to laugh at us...The school should of never allowed this they should of stuck to policy not be scared of a few parents that say its discrimanation.. The kids whosay they are gay are not even gay, it's a trend now a days, it's Cool to be gay now, it's the influence our kids see everyday threw tv, music, internet, cloths, etc...
