I do. Yet I UNDERSTAND that people still get tickets when they do, or when the weather is bad and they still have to spend money to fight them. What part of this don't you get?

If it was about saftey they should use the money to improve the intersection. And if it was about saftey how come 99% of the cars on 94 are going 75 in a 55. There's no police presence at all. Where is the safety there.

It's not about safety. Never has been. It's about making money. Just another way our governmental agencies continue to dig into our pockets to pay for unnecessary expenditures.

If We are stopped for any thing you listed we deserve a ticket and yes we should go to court and if we think we are wronged fight the ticket. This red light camera is nothing but a money maker ! so you come to a rolling stop yes it's not a complete stop as a driver you looked and made a decision it was safe to go and you didn't stop traffic or disrupt anybody ! If this type of driving which is common sense driving is 100 % wrong , OK give us the ticket ,but like hundreds more just like me made a decision and were nailed. A big money maker. I go around Lakemoor now and avoid the city completely

just another way this state digs into our pockets to pay for the small few that govern it

if they want to make an intersection safer they can extend the yellow light for 1 or 2 seconds

they dont care about safety they care about adding more money to their coffers

1. Red light cameras arn't a cash cow if you STOP!

And they are just widdling away your freedoms, alot of intersections have camera's for "emegency" reasons, tracking criminals, etc... so what's next, time you from camera to camera, if you go to fast you get a ticket? why not statilite view all cars and if they go over speed limit ticket them. where does it end?
If was about safety, they better ways to control traffic offenders, anyone that says different is a politician or ignorant.
Soon when you step out your house the government will watch every move you make.
Take notice-many intersection cameras are solar powered, but the traffic lights are not.....hmmmmm

Let me answer your four points.
1 ) these cameras are catching people who do stop. They are set for a point where the white line is. Often that line is way back where the driver can't possibly see cross traffic. Drivers need and do stop at a point where they can safely see the flow of traffic. Which can and does get them a ticket.
2 ) the do screw the owner of the car if someone else was driving. In my family we switch drivers all the time.
3 ) you're far more likely to get hit by tailgaters or drivers backing out of parking spaces then someone through a red light.
4 ) i would love to see more cops hanging around schools, shopping malls, and busting real criminals.

Why is it so hard for some people to grasp how ridiculous the red light system is. Stop slightly over the line,$100. Stop less than 6 seconds $100. I love how some people grasp onto the "blowing a red light" theory when in fact MOST of the tickets are for the above two minor infractions. I have NEVER had a red light ticket but I certainly can grasp that it's nothing more than an income generator for the cities that install them and the camera maker. It has NOTHING to do with safety. I can drive down route 12 at 60 mph and cars are flying by me. Then, slam on the breaks to stop for a 2 second yellow light and stop a couple of inches over the line.$100. How any one in their right mind thinks these are a great idea are beyond me.

You have no idea what you are talking about! What do you know about the process? You are just repeating what all the complainers are saying. Each and every video is reviewed by a real police officer and they either approve the citation or dismiss it. They don't approve the ticket if you stop past the line, you are wrong! They only issue the ticket if you fail to completely stop. They don't care if you accidently pass the line and then stop, the officer will dismiss the recording and no ticket will be issued if you did actually come to a complete stop even if it was just past the line. You get to watch the video yourself, there is a link sent to you with the citation where you can watch the video and if you still believe you stopped you can request a court date where you get to watch the video with a judge. If the judge agrees that you did really stop your ticket is dismissed and you walk out. All this crying about the cameras is being done by people who are too simple to understand that all they have to do is STOP. It's easy and even YOU can do it! Give it a try it's the pedal on the left!

They just can't figure it out! They don't cry about taxes that are FORCED on them but they cry about red light tickets which is money they don't have to pay if they just try obeying the rules of the road! They complain about the cameras generating money that their community can use to prosecute other criminals and law breakers, and it won't come out of their pockets! Every time a criminal commits a crime it costs YOU the tax payer money! YOU pay to prosecute them, YOU pay for their public defender, YOU pay to house them in jail, YOU pay to re-educate the criminals, and YOU pay to help them re-enter society so they can commit more crimes! Who are the sheeple? Spend some time complaining about things that matter! No matter what anyone says these people just don't get it! Enough said!

So, whiners you'd rather have these a-holes who blow through the red lights crash into a pregnant woman, an elderly person or a family in a car, right?
"WAHHHH! I have to go to court now and pay this ticket! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!!"
Oh I feel really sorry for you, believe me.
If so many a-holes weren't blowing through red lights, WE WOULDN'T HAVE THE CAMERAS.....hello!!
It's nice to see your sympathy, whiners is with the a-holes flying through the red lights and jackasses who keep turning left on red LONG after it changed green.
You have a better idea to stop people blowing through red lights??
That's what I thought. You'd rather whine like a bunch of babies.
That's because all the people here complaining are the same ones who blow the lights over and over till someone gets hurt. They get tickets and they do it again and get another ticket. They just can't figure out this red light concept. What does it mean again?

1. If you stop at the line and after stopping you move forward to see, the officer will see that when he watches the video and he won't approve the ticket, without his approval it wont be sent to you. Police officers watch each and every video before the ticket is approved.

2. You know who drives your car and most likely it is someone you love. Explain the importance of stopping at red lights and make them pay the ticket. The lesson may save their lives later, and the ticket wont go on your record anyway.

3. Parking lot fender benders don't usually result in injury or death. Side impact high speed accidents in intersections have a much higher death rate. There has been no proven increase in rear end accidents due to the cameras and people should never be following so closely that they can't react to a car suddenly stopping in front of them. Driver's ED class taught us about the reactionary gap you are suppossed to be keeping between you and the car in front of you.

4. These cameras are making it so officers don't have to sit at intersections 24hrs a day and it frees them up so they can handle other crimes.

Why is it so hard for you to grasp what to do at a red light? Most preschoolers can tell you what you have to do at a red light! Ask almost any child and they can tell you! How embarassing that all these adults complain about rules and then try to tell their kids they have to obey rules. You are acting worse than children!

In order for all of you to get your driver's licenses you had to pass a written exam and a driving test. During the exam they asked you what to do at a red light. You knew the answer or you wouldn't have gotten your license. During the driving test you drove around with an instructor who evaluated you. You knew what to do at a red light or you wouldn't have passed the test. Why is it so hard to do it now?
Maybe in your old age you have forgotten? Well let me be your new instructor. Gather around and no chewing gum in class! Ok, you all know the color red right? Who can tell me what you do if you approach an intersection and the traffic light is red? No one? YOU STOP!
Say it with me kids "you stop"! Good job! I knew you could do it!!!!

WOW 7 posts in a row under this name and then 2 more posts under another name.
And they jump on how many posts i make.
I guess you still need schooling by the numbers.
1 ) If an office has to watch each and every so called violation then he can sit in his car and catch violations at that intersection. And its NOT in their financial interest to take a pass on the violation. In other words you will get the ticket every time.
2 ) you are just plain out wrong. It does goes on the record of the car owner. Yes our family loves us and they will acknowledge their mistakes but that still doesn't clear the record of the car owner.
3 ) Again you're plain out wrong. There is an increase in fender benders. And i never wrote anyone died in them. But i still don't want one because of a bad light.
4 ) these cameras are not freeing up anyone.( see number 1 ) in fact they have INCREASE the number of court cases tying up the courts.
I'm done with you. You're probably a politician who loves the money in puts in your pocket.
At lease the average poster in here realizes these cameras are a joke and are just another money grab by greedy politicians.
