IH Rent - Invitation Homes Complaints

Anyone renting from invitation homes have pool problems? Along with endless problems in the house, filthy tile that wasn't clean, endless leaks, SCE threatening to shut power off because invitation homes was in violation of electrical panel (was never fixed before we moved in) took 5 months to fix. Dryer vent full of lent almost caught on fire, poison plant in front yard (family ended up in ER) I could go on and on. More portfolio managers in a year then I can count. They really could careless about the problems. Every time I call and complain I get an employee who is defensive when I bring up the issues. If you're going to rent from this company keep a documentation of EVERYTHING. Pictures pictures pictures. If you have a choice don't rent from them they are horrible. I'm going to contact an attorney and see what my legal rights are. Back to my question I'm looking from renters that are having problems with the pool services. Our pool service is horrible. We continue to get algae even though we run our pool 8-10 hours a day. Our entire pool is full of calcium. I have pictures and still nothing is done. In fact I got a message that it was our fault because it was left in spa mode. Funny we've complained about this problem for months and now that I'm complaining everyday it had become my fault. I've spend money and my time cleaning it. Renters don't rent from them I know there are much better companies out there. I personally wish I would have rented elsewhere.

I found this link article today. Pretty much confirms what the posts here say. 46% of respondents had plumbing problems! That's what happens when you take a home that has sat vacant with no heat for 2 years, throw a coat of paint on it and some new appliances and voila!

"Though Invitation Homes claims to have spent $25,000 per home to bring them up to standards, 46 percent of respondents reported plumbing problems, 39 percent found roaches or other insects, and around one in five had issues with air conditioning or mold or leaky roofs. One Los Angeles tenant is suing Invitation Homes after they say they were sickened by mold in their rental property. And families in these properties had little chance of a face-to-face meeting with their landlords to go over these problems"

Our experience with Invitation Homes has been positive. We like our house. It was newly painted, fresh carpet and clean. We have not had any issues with getting repairs addressed. They have always been quick to respond. I recommend them.

LOL, give it a month or two. Or, maybe you are one of the 5% that actually got lucky. I highly doubt it. I find it unbelievable that people find it acceptable to rent from an equity firm that's only concern is their bottom line.

I have entered my 2nd year with IH, and I will NEVER EVER sign another lease with these people. Everything between customer service to there CRAZY fines and fee's. I hope people read these reviews, when i started renting they were THR properties, they were bought out a few months into our lease (from what i can tell). They never mailed me a notice to change my rent destination, and since i mailed it to Texas and not Chicago they gave me a $100 late fee. They REFUSE to see the fact that it was not my fault. I could go on and on, they are horrible.

My experience with invitation homes has been s Nightmare from the beginning, I relocated to a county for work. I meet with the leasing manager was approved for the home. 1st red flag the home that was posted on the site was not the house I was shown, 2nd Red Flag I sign the lease the house was not ready for move in I had to put my belonging in storage & stayed in a hotel this happen 2x I wasnput into a situation that I didn't have any option I had to wait. Invitation refuse to pay hotel expemces. Finslly hhr 3rd lease was signed. My lesase is now up they took 300.00 from my Security deposit for yard work (which I did upon leaving the home) and for bringing empty trash bins from the driveway into yard. Save Yourself the Headache!!

I wish I had found this site before signing on with IH. We have recently moved to the Atlanta, GA area and have had nothing but problems. First, we picked up the keys on a Thursday, drove back to our old house packed up our stuff and drove up to the Atlanta area on a Saturday. Finished unloading our truck at 11 at night and found we had no air conditioners upstairs where the bedrooms are. Called in a service call and they did not show up until I called three more times the following day. AC was finally fixed at 7 pm which means we were unable to do anything upstairs due to the temperature being in excess of 90 degrees. Moved in and the blinds in the master bath were filthy, I spent over 4 hours cleaning the cupboards and countertops in the kitchen, there was still food and supplies in the cupboards. After all that cleaning I still had to call and have them bring in someone to finish cleaning the kitchen. On a post in the basement F*%& Me was painted on and we have been in the house almost a month now and still have not received our key to the pool area, summer will be over soon and we will have not heard when we will gain access to the pool we are paying to use. Also, the listing for the house had it listed as 2338 square feet, however, the house is only 2056 sq ft. That means the rent was based on a larger square footage with access to a pool so I am over paying for everything in this house.

I am living in hell now that I have moved in to an invitation home. They were all so wonderful in the beginning and now that I have been in the home for over 7 months it's been nothing but headaches, rude employees, disrespectful property managers and unhelpful on every level. I have multiple problems with the home I am renting and it takes them days to respond. Once they do respond they are rude. I have had to call them about the plumbing 6 different times, mice problems in a home that is OCD clean , spider infestation, appliances breaking and I have a two year lease...HELP!!! I NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS PLACE WITHOUT LEGAL ISSUES..

I am dealing with the office in Plantation Florida, and they are up front, professional and courteous and have given every dollar amount that is required. The property I am moving into is completely redone very very nice. I would recommend this branch to anyone seeking a lease

Oh Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, the important words in the above statement are "moving into". Give it a few months. They don't have you where they want you yet. Once you get in, I'm sure your tune will change. Another sucker lining up, lol...

For those of you still renting from these bastards, I'm truly sorry for you. But, beware of leaving... we paid a $1975 deposit and lived in the house for 7 months. We paid the $3450 fee to break the lease and they are CHARGING us an additional $800 for "damages" on a house that was left in identical condition that we moved into. They claim it's $304 to mow the yard and $1006 to do touch up paint. They're also charging us 1 day of rent when they scheduled the walk out to be on the 2nd, even though we had vacated by the 31st as per our lease break addendum. I could go on and on. It's criminal. I would HIGHLY recommend you run when you see an IH being rented. Just... run.

Have mold growing in my kit hen cabinets due to a flood in my kitchen of groundwaterr from heavy rains. They sent someone out who sealed up the basebord and caulked it while there was still water under the cabinets, now i have mold growing and a hige hela filter that has to run 24/7 with my electric. This is the ninth service call i have had to place since July 11 when we moved i . No one replying, called IH three times, emailed property manager, no response. Getting ready to call a lawyer to see what our options are about breaking the lease

"Invitation Homes claims on its website that by removing vacant, foreclosed houses from the market, it is reducing blight and “providing a much-needed service for communities across the nation.” But Blackstone is backed by a host of companies that bear direct responsibility for the foreclosure crisis, including Morgan Stanley, CitiBank and Bank of America. After first making money from the housing bubble that crashed the economy, then benefitting from the federal bailout, banks and investors now stand ready to profit all over again by cleaning up the mess they made."
