Grew up playing on that rink. When first opened back in the early 70's, it was open on three sides. The winter winds would blow hard across the open fields it was situated on. Snow drifts would build along the boards and glass. Then slowly they received funding to enclose the whole building, not all at once though. Went back this summer to see the ole' stomping. Has not changed in years. Definitely needs updating or remodeling. With hockey being a huge sport back their, I support the privatization of it or some sort of public/private partnership. If I had the resources, I would build a rink in the town to accomodate the increase in youth hockey and fill the void. I moved out of the area because I was tired of all the in-action instead of the action by local government. Hope they iron this out. Keep the politians out and business in.
