Ms White, must be living with her head in the sand. The US generates the majority of CO2 being produced and yet failed in 2001 to sign the Kyoto protocol. Which is when the majority of the rest of the world came together to acknowledge and work on emission issues. All that's happening now is we're being forced to play catch up. Everything in life is a privilege, and not owed to any one. Food, fuel, clean water are all things we expect to have, and to have cheaply. The price of change for those commodities sparks the same reaction as taking a babies bottle away. No one forced you to live the way you do. If you can't stomach the rates do something about it. Have your power turned off and live like your great grandparents, pump your water and grow your own food. But to complain and not be prepared to act in onces self interest, well isnt' that just calling for socialism and waiting for someone else to give you the solution you are to stupid to provide yourself. Solar power has come down in price to the point where most people can or could afford to generate their own power. Instead they'll keep the second car and continue to complain when the solution is there in front of their faces.

Here is but one example, China is the top co2 producer in the world. One more thing, Crap and trade is a detrimental bill based on BS science. This is the worst thing our government could do in the middle of a depression. It will raise costs on EVERYTHING and cost more jobs than any other bill ever introduced. That's just what we need when unemployment is at 9.5% and rising. You really should pull your head out of your ass and do a little research before you post again.

The fact that Teague is having to defend the stupid vote should be sending him a very LARGE clue. ie. that he SHOULDN'T have voted for it. Here are some numbers for him to get a reality check with: 45% of the voters say it's BETTER for the country if the WH and Congress are each run by a DIFFERENT party. Only 27% disagree. This is a SEVEN point drop since November. 51% of UNAFFILIATED voters agree with 62% of the republicans to have different parties controlling. And get this, Rasmussen says, Democrats are MUCH more closely divided than one would expect. Only 39% of democrats think single party rule is best, 27% LIKE the idea of divided government and 34% aren't sure. See? The DEMOCRATS don't even have the support of their own party with single party control. Almost 1 in 3 thinks divided government is GOOD, and OVER 1 in 3 AREN'T SURE. The democrats aren't even holding their own BASE. 52% of the MAINSTREAM AMERICA say split control is better. Coupled with Gallup's polls showing more people self identify as conservative, the independents swinging with the GOP, and 46% of the adults think the democrats are too liberal, no WONDER the democrats are at home trying to defend their stupidity. While the democrats lead on party affiliation, the GOP has taken the lead on the generic congressional ballot. Funny huh? Dems lead wih party affiliation but the nation is siding with the GOP on the generic ballot. 56%(FIFTY SIX PERCENT) of the nation doesn't want to pay for the goofy global warming stupidity. Ok, this next one is gonna suck for liberals. 63% say CREATING JOBS is more important than taking steps to stop this global warming. Brace yourself, 57% of UNAFFILIATED VOTERS say it is more important to keep the cost of energy down, along with 67% of repubicans rather than develop clean sources of energy. Only the DEMOCRATS believe the focus should be clean environmentally friendly sources of energy should come before keeping energy costs down. You see? The democrats just don't get it. Even worse, 67% of the MAINSTREAM AMERICA say they are NOT willing to pay higher taxes and utilities to generate cleaner energy, and only 17% of the Political class agrees with that statement. 71% of MAINSTREAM AMERICA believe JOB CREATION is more important, but 57% of the Political class says steps to stop global warming is more important. Only 31% of the independents say the nation is heading in the right direction. As opposed to DEMOCRATS, 61%. See what I mean? The fact is, it's staring them in the face. If the democrats have to defend their IDIOCY at home, then SOMETHING should be giving them a huge clue. They're governing AGAINST what the people want. And the people are going to take it out on them at the ballot box in 2010.

Teague said that he help put provisions into the billed that "saved jobs". Then by his own admission is this bill is killing jobs or creating more unemployment. This guy is a poor excuse for a leader. When Obama came up with the new terminology of "saved jobs" which no one knows what it is or how you can confirm a "saved job", now Mr. Teague is also using the words.

Ask this idiot how "brave" his vote was while the democrats, after taking control in 2006, have ESCALATED the travel to exotic places as well as Spain and Italy on your dollar while we're trying to eek it out with home payments, keep the lights on.
Ask him how "brave" he is taking the automatic 4,900 raise, while we're struggling.
And then he votes to deliberately implement a tax upon us, while they travel, WITH SPOUSES on your dime, in a gluttunous obscene display of disregard for taking money from those of us who EARNED it, and refuse to give it back.
Even HUNGARY understands they need a tax cut to spur growth.
You know, the "ruling class" living gluttunously at the expense of the ruled is how governing entities fall.
Remember Antoinette, and her "let them eat cake" position.
It didn't go so well for her.
The democrats should expect a whomping next election.
Their days of obscene gluttunous spending of OUR money, while we're hurting out here is going to come to a screeching halt.
2010 is going to be fantastic.

They also added language late that would require all new construction to meet California Standards and all existing homes would require retrofitting to California standards. So if you want to sell your house, better do it before 2012 or you may be faced with 20 to 30 thousand in improvements before you can sell your home. Next, they'll tell you that you have to have these upgrades to even own your own home.

You can't recall officials at the federal level. States with recall mechanisms can only recall their state level officials. Tell them a vote FOR that piece of garbage is an AUTOMATIC campaign contribution for their opponent next time. Personally, I dont' think the senate is going to do anything with it. Seriously. I would expect them, given th growing number of scientists now coming out and saying "this was a hoax" is growing, I would expecct them to be wise and sage and say something that makes them SOUND smart.....like "Given the changing nature of the scientific debate, and in light of the growing number of individuals in the scientific community who disagree, at this time, we cannot, in good concience, implement something that is in such question, but would have UNQUESTIONABLE impacts on our nation, and our economy, at a time that we can ill afford a negative impact. It is our position at this time to permenantly table this legislation for a later point when the scientific community has a consensus, in which to accurately make a sound decision of such magnitude." A few democrats would probably actually save theri NECKS in the next election if they took that position. It's the house of reps that is in deep doo doo.

Anyone who signs off on a contract or bill without reading it should be fired and that includes the president. No way to run a business let alone a nation. They need to clean out their desk and join the ranks of the unemployed.

The overall effect of this dangerous legislation will be continued reliance on foreign oil and higher energy costs that will be passed on to EVERY CONSUMER. The results will be reduced employment, decreased consumer spending and negative economic growth... this is all at a time when economic growth is what we need most. I hope our senators are principled enough to turn down the solar and wind lobbyist's payoffs and not allow any form of this legislation to become law. We need energy legislation like the AMERICAN ENERGY ACT, which will reduce carbon emmissions WHILE providing jobs and reducing our dependency on Foreign oil.

I agree with you, Ralph. The people in Congress who are voting for this irresponsible "cap and tax" legislation must be the most corrupt buffoons on Earth, but the fact that they don't even bother to READ the legislation makes them even worse. Obama has no business signing ANYTHING until Congress has read and debated it. Our leadership (including Obama) is incorrigible.

Since the AGW goofies are on today, posting distortions and out right bogus info, I'll post this here so you guys can see it. More evidence that AGW isn't real. Heavy duty scientists from respected universities with FIFTY 53 board members from various institutions! http://www.worldclimatereport.com/index.php/2... A recent issue of Environmental Geology contains an article entitled “On global forces of nature driving the Earth’s climate. Are humans involved?” by two scientists at the University of Southern California. Before we examine the article, let’s get a few things on the table. First of all, the two authors (Khilyuk and Chilingar) are faculty members at what most would agree is a world-class academic institution. If their work was not up to the standards of the University of Southern California, they wouldn’t be there for long. Second, Environmental Geology is an international multidisciplinary journal concerned with all aspects of interactions between humans, ecosystems, and the earth. It is published by Springer which is one of the leading academic publishing companies in the world. The editorial board of Environmental Geology includes 53 leading scientists from every corner of the planet; US institutions listed as primary affiliations of board members include the US Geological Survey, the University of New Orleans, the University of Missouri, the University of Kansas, the University of Oklahoma, Temple University, Wesleyan University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and so on.
The point is that Environmental Geology is a first-class journal, papers submitted to the journal are peer-reviewed by scientists at major institutions, and the journal is certainly not part of any industry-funded conspiracy to undermine actions on global warming. Submitting a paper to any journal in which you question whether humans are involved in global warming will assure a more stringent review than normal. Complete retuation of the AGW crowd's claim of scientific proof! The authors place the recent warming into an interesting perspective noting “the global warming observed during the latest 150 years is just a short episode in the geologic history. The current global warming is most likely a combined effect of increased solar and tectonic activities and cannot be attributed to the increased anthropogenic impact on the atmosphere. Humans may be responsible for less than 0.01°C (of approximately 0.56°C (1°F) total average atmospheric heating during the last century)”. Holy cow, can you imagine the letters and e-mails they must have received in response to that conclusion? They even show that over the last 3,000 years, the earth has cooled, or if you look just at the last 1,000 years, the earth has been cooling as well (the earth was in the Medieval Warm Period 1,000 years ago). A complete refutation of the AGW crowd's claim! Our World Climate Reports uncover and present interesting results we find in the peer-reviewed professional scientific journals, and as we have seen over and over, there are many absolutely amazing papers published regularly in outstanding journals. The global warming crusade would denounce this paper as outrageous, but it survived rigorous peer-review, the editor elected to publish it, and like it or not, this paper is part of the serious science literature. Dismissing the paper is made more difficult given the affiliation of the authors and the prestige of the journal. It's clear the scientific community does not have a consensus. In fact, there APPEARS to be proof of just the OPPOSITE. More and more papers prove it!
