Such an ignorant statement.

It seems you need quite a large lesson in history.

Wow...great story turns into a political forum. How about just comments on the story. And if you dont like the military and/or certain politicians then maybe not read the story if you dont have any comment self control.

You are Don Quixote. The web is a windmill. Good luck with that.

This story does involve more than a touch of political posturing, but that has nothing to do with the sort of trolling that started with comment #1.

There he does again-- predictably carrying the torch for the wingnut Repugnuts. It's the same old irrational Pawlenty formula. His comments on social problems really should be the subject of a one-man show and, in fact, I'm tempted to write it. It would be so easy. Instead of dealing with serious issues, he makes Groucho Marx gestures that the right adore and which either don't address problems or make them worse. Take the issue of the TVs for the repeat sex offenders who are committed for life as incurable. He doesn't address this as an area of inquiry-- how they arise in society and how to keep our kids and ourselves safe from them. He comes out with the "grand gesture" of removing new TVs and scapegoating the person who approved this purchase. The man is simply ass backwards.
Did you remember his solution to the growing number of high school students who couldn't pass the senior math test to graduate? His solution was to give them the test another time and if they failed it again, then they would graduate. Duh! That solution is a great way to recruit companies to come to MN because we have such a highly educated work force. How about his solution for the increased cost of health care in the state. His solution was to
remove the indigent from insurance; therefore, they wouldn't have access to clinics when they became ill and, in the end, will end up in emergency rooms with more extreme medical problems and at greater cost to the taxpayer, to say nothing of the moral decay of the state that his decision represents.
How about his solution to the state budget crisis. He reduced the amount of money the state gives to the cities to run their programs so now the cities just have to raise property taxes on its citizens or reduce police and fire and library and school services. And yet, in his own anachronistic way, he still refuses to raise taxes.
How he ever got voted in, I'll never know nor do I want to know.
Has something in the drinking water debilitated the intellect of the people of MN who once had the very highest caliber of elected officials-- Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale, both of whom should have been President?
I've just finished reading an article about Charles Darwin in the NYT, "Darwin, Ahead of His Time, Is Still Influential" by Nicholas Wade. As Mr. Wade states, "He (Darwin) had the objectivity to put aside criteria with powerful emotional resonance, like the conviction that evolution should be purposeful."
In other words evolution does not always progress upwards towards a higher evolutionary plane. Gov. Tim Pawlenty certainly is a fine example of Darwin's scientific observation.

People who blame everything on President Bush must have flunked 7th grade civics.

Congress makes public policy -- Presidents "Execute" the laws that congress passes.

Duluth has a lousey Economy because it's full of pot smokers who sit around and wait for the government to do everything.

Congress created gitmo and sent us to war in Iraq.

Thank you Mia.
This isn't about politics it's about flagrant misuse of taxpayer money by arrogant taxpayer employees that treat OUR money as their own.
The responsible individuals need to be held accountable and dismissed without recourse. As someone "in the know" I can assure you this crap goes on daily and in all agencies within our State government. Next time taxpayers are required to pony up we should ask for a full accounting of where the money went and more importantly, to whom.

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Virgo

You're in a very sensitive frame of mind today and are acutely aware of what other people are going through. So if someone is having a bad time, you'll want to do what you can to help. However, it's important to accept that you may not be able to do a single thing. If you persist in trying to help, it will be because you're uncomfortable with the situation and want to feel better.
