"Citizen Science" That's a great phrase and I love how this project encourages the EveryMan to turns his eyes to the skies. It doesn't take a masters in avian studies to recognize the beautiful gift that birds are to us. If Wisconsin ever took on such an ambitious project I would certainly sign on.

Good luck and God bless all those who are volunteering for the birds!

Zen, zen, zen. Thanks for a smile this morning. You don't believe me and now you're part of this morning's entertainment... ;)

All I can say is these folks are birdwatchers. Birders is a silly name. Are they not watching birds?

(LMAO) Happy to have put a smile upon your face, PT! I agree with you about the silliness of the word "birder". I think when "foodie" became an acceptable word to describe someone who likes to eat, all bets were off on what to call people who like to watch birds, I guess. "Birdie" was already taken by the flying things that they watch, so they went with the next shortest descriptor. Laziness, if you ask me!

I haven't seen the commercial, but bravo for this statement! This is the most honest and unerrant thing I've read in your name, Mrs R. Now this is something on which we agree.
Zen
This is totally off-topic, but Zen your well spoken and truthfull dialogue is is just what Mrs. R is looking for. After months of watching her (he/she/it) post, it's obvious that she is just interested in your (anyone's) reaction/interaction.
The best defense against Mrs. R is silence.

Thanks for the kindness, C. I'll try harder to stop myself from responding to her.

Zen- oh woman of the birds-
I'm thinking the Audubon Society would love to have
regional help in this survey. Birds don't stop at the river,
except maybe to drink or fish?
Are you sure you couldn't sign on to this project? Monk

I'll breed a birder if she's decent looking. Or if it's dark. Or if I'm loaded. Oh all right, as long as she's breathing.
