Of course it is a special interest group. But then, So is the CA.

The difference is the Watchers want to bring accountability to the Community Association, while the current CA group wants to keep things as the always have been- a good-ole-boy network that serves themselves and really cares not what the whole of the membership desires.

The CA seems to be run by a group of older folks who don't care about the younger generation and their values.

LisaL,

I couldn't disagree with you more. The current CA Board DOES care about the younger generation with their support of the various clubs and groups.

If you have attended any of the recent meetings where the Bylaws Proposal was discussed with the Watchers Group you would clearly understand that their group does not care about the younger generation or the future growth of the CA. They just want: 1) people who don't pay their CA dues to be able to vote 2)handcuff the CA Board from conducting business like any other CA board does 3)Stop activities like the Triathlon, Ski Shows, Fireworks shows, sailing regatta's, etc - you know,,, those things that make this a great community and one of the Top 10 on the USA Today pole.

The CA Board is willing to listen to this group to make changes to better the community. But since they are currently being led by a ACLU lawyer the Watchers have chose to waste our CA funds on this extortion they call a ballot.

The process has worked for years with much success,,, if you don't like the CA Board, then vote them out. The Watchers were successful in getting two of "their" candidates elected to the CA Board. If they want changes, meet with the new board or continue to vote in your candidates to enact the changes you want.

Ok- I have read some of these changes proposed. If I am a CA member I should have a say in what happens with my dues. At least to a degree beyond electing someone to decide for me on issues unknown.

Also- if I have not paid my dues, and am not allowed to vote, does that mean I am kicked out of the CA? If so, I'll gladly vote for that. I'll save my fees, not be subject to their 1st amendment infringments, and their petty rules.

Of course, the CA will never allow that- then they will lose control of 'their' town.

There is a huge part of Lake St. Louis that is not part of the CA and it survives just fine. Those parts also, equally, were recognized as being apart of teh top 10 places list. In fact- most of the developments that have occurred to put the city on the list are OUTSIDE the CA boundaries.

And as for the comment vote in who I want to enact the changes' well- isn't that kinda what is happening now?

Did you know that 20% of the population now lives OUTSIDE the CA boundaries?

Did you know the article the rated Lake Saint Louis as a top 10 city also listed the CA dues as the main FLAW of living in the city?

So- go ahead and spew your words- but at least be aware of the facts of what you say.

Mongrel - do you live in OFallon or LSL?

I am aware of the facts,,,, IF you live in LSL outside of the CA, why do you care about this issue?

Why all the bitterness towards the CA? I am happy to pay $450 to have access to all of our amenities.

Concerned LSL citizen- Just so you know and making inaccurate assumptions- I do pay my dues for the amenities, and have, on-time, consistently for the 15 years I've lived here.

Why do you pay for something that you are so vehemently against?

Concerned- I pay since it is required- I accept that. Doesn't mean I like it.

Do you like everything the government spends money on? Or do you withhold your taxes until they do what you want? Kinda the same thing.

And - expressing my disagreement is nowhere near vehemence.

I don't like Obama and I sure don't like his policies, but he was voted in by the majority of voters. Should we have a vote every time he puts a new policy up for congress to push through? I don't think the democratic system works that way, we have to live with what those that are voted pass and then work to change it through the regular voting process, we can't cry every time something passes that we as individuals disagree with, so if you don't like the current administration vote for the special interest group known as the LSLCSM or whatever they are calling themselves this year.
