Looks like the Watchers are threatening another lawsuit based on their lost election. They already cost the CA $35K, now they want cost the CA memebership more.
If you want change, get more involved!

They SAVED the CA members a lot more by finally getting attention brought to the fact that the CA was using the money with NO ACOUNTABILITY!. They also helped keep the dues from going up to over $700 dollars a year from the current $450.

So while they are costing us more- while saving each member money- it seems you are speaking from the view that they are costing the CA money. SO, which CA board member, or employee are you?

Sure, they brought attention to the board, and that is a good thing. But they keep throwing money out the window. What do they hope to accomplish with this new tactic?

I don't think they saved us anything, those votes would have NEVER passed to increase the dues. They can take credit if they want to but that is like me saying I stopped healthcare reform because I expressed my concerns to my 5 neighbors and my congressman...it wasn't going to pass anyway!!

Gladstone,

I agree with "A resident".... the CA Membership voted down the fee increase without the Watchers help.

I am not an employee or CA Board Member, just a concerned CA Member that does not like being manipulated by this special interest group (The Watchers).

The Watchers claim they speak for the petition signers, but the petition I signed only had two items. The Watchers Board added six additional items without consulting the petition signers. Then they attempted to manipulate the election by biased reporting in the Newstime and fear mongering and lies spread via emails and their website.

THEY cost our CA Membership $35K for this election, and now they have sour grapes over the lost election, so they are threatening another lawsuit. What will this cost? Isn't this money better spent on the CA Membership?

God forbid you question these folks or disagree with their irrational ideas. When you do they claim you are a CA BOD sympathizer. The funny thing is they are doing many of the same things they complain the CA BOD has done in the past.

If this group truly wants to improve the CA, they should get involved, volunteer their time like the other people they claim are hurting us.

Gladstone,

I just took the time to read your post again and want to clarify something I said above. The CA's Money is OUR money,,, as in all of the CA Members money. So an additional cost of $35K+ plus whatever this latest legal action is going to be is going to cost ALL of our members their money which could be put to better use.

Please encourage your special interest group (the Watchers) to drop this whole thing as get more involved in the community to make change.

jpowers- yes I agree that it is OUR money. However, spending 35,000 to gain control over the spending of millions without membership approval may have been the best choice for spending at the time. My opinion.

To clarify for you- it isn't my special interest group. To start with, I'm not so sure you can call it a special interest group anymore than you can call the CA board a special interest group. And, to point out, not all special interest groups are a bad thing.

And finally- I have no ties to the Watchers other than supporting them in their efforts to take control of the money away from the Board without some member input.

Look- for the most part, I support the CA regs. I can't support the spending of large amounts of member money without a vote of those members. At least not when members are REQUIRED to pay dues simply for living in the area.

Which reminds me.... the CA spending money for the lake dredging, the fireworks, or even boat slips for the lake ALL serve special interests. I live in the CA territory, but do not use the lake at all. Why am I forced to pay fees for something I don't use? That smacks of a mandatory funding for special interests.

The difference is the CA BOD was elected, so you can call them a special interest group that's special interest is representing the CA members who elected them.

There are many people who support limiting the BOD's approval power to spend money (including me), but when the Watchers threw all of the other six items on the ballot they lost the support of many of the people who signed the petition.

I agree with your comments about all special intrest groups - my family pays the $450 and uses the lakes, pools, golf course, etc. I knew this when I bought the house so I have no problem with it. So yes I am part of many special interest groups that make this a great community. My problem with the Watchers is they claim to NOT be a special interest group which is clearly not the case by the way they demanded the 8 items on the ballot.

So, my question of you is why did you move within the CA Boundries if you did not want to pay for the CA fees?

Well- you're assuming I don't want to pay the fees. I never said or implied that. As a matter of fact, I have paid my dues on time and in full the 17 years I have lived here.

I only said I wish for more control of the spending of the Board.

As for the special interest groups- yes, The Watchers are also a special interest group.

Anyway, it is a good community, and could obviuosly be much worse. I'm not complaining about the city or the amenities, just the Board resisting the requirement of the members having more input.

I'd encourage you to attend some BOD Meetings and speak your mind. You will be surprised how the BOD does listen to your needs.

I may just do that. I've been to a couple of the meetings in the past, but it's been a few years. Think Harry was still Mayor then.

Maybe I'll see you there?

The Watchers website says they have been meeting to discuss the election. Why wasn't this open to the members?

When Harry was mayor...what year was that?? Things have changed, get involved, don't just sit back and arm chair quarterback like the watchers have done. Its OUR money they keep insisting on wasting on legal fee's. If their lawyer was a real lawyer he would charge a fee, if not then why won't he pro-bono for the other 4,000 members and fight for what the majority wanted as seen in the last vote? In other words, they are very much a special interest group, their numbers are under 50 members, probably more like 12, since that is all that signed the latest petition disputing the vote. Its out of control and it will be the demise of this community. I think the board heard and learned from the last proposal, give them a chance to prove it and if you aren't satisfied, vote them out when their terms expire.

GREAT! The demise of this community! Best news anyone in Lake Saint Louis could hear- the demise of the oppressive Community Association!

When will this happen? I need to mark my calendar!

JimBob, I could say you are a red-necked A$$Wipe.

Then we would've both had an unfounded comment- did it change anything? Nope- because your calling me names really doesn't affect my life in the least.

Well, I take that back. I actually smiled that I had enough impact on you to make to post such a juvenile and selfish comment. Hmmm... selfish, supports the CA, restricts others by demeaning them. I see a similarity in those thngs!

I'm new to the city. Who are the watchers. Where is the website for them someone was talking about?

LiSal are you that clueless, this CA can't continue to pay $35K for every whim of a few grumpy old people without raising the fees and the people spoke and don't want the fees raised. Who is going to pay the legal bills, the CA residents, thus this group will be the demise of the CA as we know it. We won't have a nice lake, or a nice CA building or nice landscaping...all the funds for those things are going to lawyers now. You wouldn't happen to be associated with the watchers would you?

Looks like they have more to say about all this, seems that there are 12 people that no matter what you don't, you won't make them happy, what a shame.

Looks like the watchers have a new and improved web page that is still just pushing their same old agenda. But now they are "incorporated" and with a new name, sound a bit like the US Fidelas boys?

I like how they use buzz words like transparency, hasn't that been over used the last 14 months already? There is no transparency to a group that doesn't even list its members and officers.
