I have never been so upset as I was when I finished reading some of these posts! To say the least, I am so disappointed in all the people who are against Fr. Tom. He is a very caring, devout and gentle man. He has been in our parish for several years and all of a sudden he is being looked down upon by some of you. What proof do you have to bad mouth him and try to ruin his good name? Sounds like you have nothing better to do, then get on here and run your mouth. If you think he is guilty, why not say some prayers for him instead. I for one, do not believe any of this garbage. He is a wonderful priest, wish you would come listen to his homilies with the children at week day masses. He keeps their attention and speaks at their level. I knew Fr. Don, and Fr. Chuck and they are wonderful priests, too. Our priests sometimes have to move on and we have to except this. As someone else stated, if you don't like Fr. Tom, start attending another Catholic Church. Fr. Tom has been very generous to our church, and most of us know that a priest gets a small salary. As for his having a motorcycle, boat and truck, so what? Why belittle the man, he certainly needs something in life to enjoy. As for the gambling, maybe he knows of people that have suffered family problems because of it. There is no comparison to that kind of gambling at our church picnics. I for one, enjoy going to a Casino, so it isn't that I am against gambling, but Fr. Tom has his opinions on the subject and it doesn't bother me. Is it any wonder why we have a shortage of priests? Why would anyone want to devote their life to this, I can tell you, "because they love God and want to preach His word." We need to thank our lucky stars that we have Fr. Tom. I think the person that started all of this, should hang their head and ask for God to forgive them. This is very malicious gossip and I for one, hope and pray that Fr. Tom will be with us for many years to come.
