Her name is inscribed toward the bottom of a pink marble pillar in Hauppauge: Genevieve Licari, who at 14 was strangled and beaten by a teenage neighbor in Lake Ronkonkoma.

I think its been more like 30 years since Gen was murdered. I think of her often to this day she was a wonderful person. I live in Florida now, I still remember that time it was a horrible time for her family.
She would have grown up to be a wonderful person.

its nice to hear that u think of her. its been so long and u think people forget. Thank You for your thoughts and prayes. My kids found this message. Even though they never had the chance to meet her they speak of her as if they new her. She would have been a wounderful person. Thanks again love Tricia

It's nice your kids found my message. They would have been very lucky to have an Aunt like her. I remember we were very close when we were 12-13. We were in the same 6th grade class and hung out all the time. When we got to Junior High we stil were freinds and hungout occasionally but we just started hanging out with different people. You know how it goes. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always laughing and having a good time. I remember such stupid things we did as kids having fake weddings, paint expolsions, listen to oldies music it, but then it was brand new. Anyway I heard you were doing well through the years. My sister Kathy was married too Joey Cope for a while so she kinda kept me in the loop. I don't think anyone who knew her would ever forget her she was just that great!

I went to school with Genevieve's sister Nancy Licari; it was the 1978-79 school year, and I lived in Holbrook, not far from Lake Ronkonkoma. I cannot believe that it is now 31 years since the murder. What ever happened to the killer, and is he now free? Does anyone have any details as to where Genevieve is buried? Someone should make a memorial to her on Find-a-Grave.
