Welcome to Corporate America. Screw the worker, increase profits, bigger bonus for the CEO. Better yet ship the work to Vietnam. They work for pennies.

Actually smurfitt is doing what is necessary for there company to stay aboard. Obviously u havent done much research becuase if u have u would have noticed there r numerous box plants all over the united states closing doors due to the economy.
few r surviving. And those few r cutting loses in every angle possible to maintain stability. Which means closing a plant thats operational cost outwheighs its profitability would be neccesary to keep the company operational. And if your referring to the paper being shipped to china by saying ship the work to vietnam u must really need to do your homework. Becasue the paper being shipped is the garbage pulled off your streets so that it doesnt end up in U.S. landfills. Guess some people just dont look outside the box.

so, as companies pick up and move to more favorable business climates, there will be fewer to pay for state workers. then what will they do? maybe they should follow the companies, and good luck to the states they move to.

A major part of the problem is the corporate boards vote themselves huge raises and bonuses, taking 50-60% of the profits, profits that needed to be invested in the company. When times are good they gorge themselves at the trough like pigs. When times are bad the still gorge themselves but with their hand out looking for Uncle Sam to pay for their excesses.

SSCC will fail

Because of UPPER MANAGEMENT.

Both Sales and Operations made rash, arrogant business decisions; only secure the current Chapter 11 mess. To rectify past wrongs, they are bent on cleaning house and restructuring from the bottom up; however the Board of Directors should concentrate on cleaning house from the top down. Unfortunately, this will never happen.

Many of these VP clowns already have 2 feet in the retirement hole with golden parachutes and could care less if they get whacked tomorrow… the BOD should take note of this … but they won’t.

I feel sad for SSCC employees who come to work and perform their jobs with professionalism and pride. The upper management could care less about their endeavors and only seek to find new “tools” to measure performance and continue to kick out droves of long term employees- many of whom were the very foundation of the company’s success.

CHEERS..!!! To all the Focus21-Operational Excellence, M&M and Mr. Clark Bar programs…

Programs created by overpaid fat cats who do nothing and produce nothing other than over exaggerated pie charts… Pie charts created by sales managers who don’t know a thing about the box business. Hey VP’s ….!!! What’s in your pipe..? What’s in your Focus 21..? Let me see your call report from last week! Get out of the golf cart and into the field… Unfortunately, this will never happen either.

What we should do is have the state pay for all the lost wages for all the laid off workers in the state so they will still get paid. Then the last person in the state working can support eveyone.

Then I can get laid off and go fishing in the spring and summer, hunting in the fall and go on vacation in the winter time to someplace warm. just think of all the family time I will have...
