Adirondack RR will be no more

From the article in today's Press it appears that Iowa Pacific Holdings will be partnering with the Adirondack Scenic RR to bring train service to Placid full time. I can see the writing on the wall for the Adk. Scenic. Once this operation gets their hands on it, it'll be over for the Adirondack Scenic. The IPH is a first class rail operation with the cash and know-how to make it work. They won't be using any of the old volunteers as this is a paid RR operation that demands first class people to staff their trains, not the "wannabes" that are on there now. The volunteers can kiss their hobby goodbye. Once the IPH moves in, it'll be all PRO railroaders. No volunteers. Bill Branson, the board president said this is a good thing for the RR. It is. It'll finally be done right. Obviously the ARPS couldn't do it after 20 years.
So, to the volunteers, you can say goodbye to your hobby. It's going the way of the steam locomotive.
And to the snow sledders - say goodbye to your trail high hopes. I guess the RR is going to win afterall. They'll run it summer AND winter too. You can bet your sled on that. You get caught on the IPH tracks - you'll be arrested. Period.
I know all about the IPH and their intent and they will succeed like they usually do. I've been associated with them in a private level for sometime now. Good company all around.
I wish them all the luck in the world and say goodbye to the Adirondack Scenic. You'll be done before you know it.
