Laurie McQuary story: Short on facts
The comment within the story "In fact, early in her career she was banned from a police station after filming a segment in front of the station in regards to a murder case she was working on" requires more complete details. Twenty three years ago (in 1985) Laurie McQuary was also videotaped by Portland station KGW-TV standing outside the Clackamas County Sheriffs and in that report she claimed that she had given “real credible clues” and “worked quite a bit with missing persons, and unfortunately murders also.” A reference to a Clackamas County case was also briefly highlighted by reporter Kim Quintero in the KVAL-TV November 2008 broadcast and also is mentioned in this and the posted KVAL.com report. But what needs to be clear is that McQuary's involvement as far back as 1985 was unsolicited by the Clackamas County Sheriffs office. In fact at the time of the original KGW-TV broadcast Lt. Hanners in Homicide was surprised that the coverage showed and connected a police agency with McQuary. He stated then that “Nobody has acknowledged her assistance, and the only reason they filmed outside the building was because the department expressed its displeasure over the story when they were inside the building.” Russ Williams, the Public Information Officer at the time for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s office said “Sheriff Brooks is quite adamant about the solicitation of psychics since no useable information has ever been provided in the past.” Now more than 27 years later there seems to be an effort to revise history and even promote a false premise introduced by KVAL-TV news anchor Jennifer Winters that “law enforcement agencies all across Oregon are using these people to help crack cases.” For a complete overview, including a comprehensive investigation of "the most credible" police psychic in America, please refer to the commercial-fee, public-interest posting at http://www.amindformurder.com/OregonPolicePsy... -Thank you. |
