How can any person initiate such suffering upon countless creatures in their care? Dog fighting is barbaric.

I am opposed to dog fighting as well. I demonstrate my opposition to it by not financially supporting it. Laws against this type of behavior are stupid. We already have enough of non dangerous people in prison. Why add more?

You have got to be effing kidding me!!!!! You can't be serious!!!! Is this how you really think ???? Is this what you really believe ??? Your 'demonstration of opposition' is as weak as your logic. I suppose if you had lived during times of slavery and objected to it (which seems highly unlikely given your inability to show compassion or empathy), you would show your opposition to it by not owning slaves. That'll teach those nasty slave owners to own other people. This country was not founded by people of inaction who passively stood by and watched as the weak were oppressed. Its a good thing they did not act like you do, or we'd all be driving on the left side of the road. It is not laws against this type of behavior that is stupid, it is people like you that don't think we need laws like this that are stupid. I sincerely hope that you are in no way responsible for shaping the thoughts and opinions of others. The world needs more compassion, not less.

Really ? You do recall that several of the Founding Fathers were slave owners, don't you ?

Unfortunately compassion, like morality cannot be legislated. Laws against things like this, while not stupid in their intent, are difficult to enforce and do nothing to curb the activity which simpley goes undergroung/black market and continues so the laws are stupid in practice. The other caviate is that laws like this are invariably missapplied and abused once enacted.

Yeah. I am pretty sure I stated that I have a moral opposition to dog fighting. I just don't think it should be criminal. Similar to consuming alcohol and adultery. I see dog fighting as lesser "crimes" than the 2 I listed because their are real victims with those activities while with dog fighting, there are no victims.

Actually, I am a proponent of human liberty. While I cannot accurately discern what my beliefs would have been had I been raised in a different time (non of us can), given my current beliefs, I would oppose slave ownership.

Actually, many of the founding fathers owned slaves. Even worse than that, there is evidence that George Washington stole their body parts and implanted them in himself.

"In 1784, five years before he became president of the United States, George Washington, 52, was nearly toothless. So he hired a dentist to transplant nine teeth into his jaw--having extracted them from the mouths of his slaves."

The founding fathers also were pretty gruesome towards the Native Americans. Perhaps you should look it up.

The founding fathers also engaged in bloodsport themselves.
"Even the first US president, George Washington, and the main author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, enjoyed the spectacle. "

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I work with young children. My job entails teaching them the moral code that their parents want to teach them. Being open to differing ideas allows me to work with one family who has a lame duck and decides to chop off its head and cook the duck for dinner while simultaneously working with a family who is so opposed to harming animals they they gently pick up insects in their house and release them outside.

I absolutely agree. That is why I oppose imprisoning people for dog fighting.

They also decimated the Native American. They participated in bloodsport. QWERTY is so ignorant regarding American history. He has created some pretty strange concepts regarding our founding fathers. By today's standards, they are pretty disgusting humans.
