Woman Earns Silver Star in Afghan War

A 19-year-old medic from Texas will become the first woman in Afghanistan and only the second woman since World War II to receive the Silver Star, the nation's third-highest medal for valor.

Having served 22 years in the military it makes me proud to see young solders carrying on in the face of combat bringing honor to their country, their service and them selves. Solders follow orders usually without question and are the ones that pay the price for decisions that politicians make. This young woman is an example for others to live up to.

I'm Veteran and my husband is Active Duty. My hat is off to this brave Solider.

She isn't even old enough to have a drink when she comes home, but yet, she willingly risked her life to save the lives of her fellow Comrades in Arms.

She and all the other members of our Armed Services are in my thoughts and prayers, and they have my gratitude for all that they do and all that they give up for us.
