Our view: Towing fees are excessive
Several area municipalities have discovered a new cash cow. Administrative towing fees, similar to redlight cameras, seem designed for the sole purpose of generating easy revenue for cities and villages.

Let the offenders pay the bills! Why should tax payers have to keep paying to prosecute people who violate traffic laws? Let the offenders pay the bill!

Taxpayers have always paid to prosecute people in court for whatever state crime they commit. That is the law.
If you pose the question right taxpayers will tell you they WANT to do it.
Do you feel the penalty for drunks who run over pedestrians should be higher ? Of course you do.
Well any bill that would increase that would get other minor offenses added onto it.
Its the same thing with the red light cameras.
They sell that idea on saving lives.
When in reality its just a money grab.

What type of minor offenses? Could you expand on the above statement?

You would have to see a bill be written in order to see what would be attached to it.
But pick any bill you like and you'll find something attached to it that isn't really part of it.
That is how goof ball laws get written.
They take something that is justifiable and add nonsense to it.
Obamacare is a great example of it.
Of course everyone is in favor of health care reform.
But just wait until you see now what you're force to pay for as a result.
If you don't think this stuff happens you're living in ignorance and not worth my time.
You deserve Obamacare and any other bad law that comes your way.
Including ones that allow excessive tow fees.

@MysteryMan... ah.. thanks for clarifying. I get what you're saying now.
You're referring to how it typically plays out in these scenarios, rather than a specific potential offense related to the towing fees.
