My daughter who is now 37 and not special needs, got left on the bus when she was 6. This was after school and the bus had been parked in the bus lot. She had fallen asleep and was laying down in the seat. I was hysterical when she did not come home. I called the school and then the police. It was at least 2 hours before Somebody decided to check the bus and there she was. Needless to say this is a very frightening thing.

One idea...maybe if a BUS AID was hired..this situation would have never happned. Not excusing the busdriver for what she did,but I remember when my special needs son was riding the bus to school, there was always a BUS AID to tend to those kids.

I am a bus driver in Ohio. On Friday we had a driver leave a special needs kid on the bus for a total of 4 hours. She has a buzzer on her back door, but she failed to check her bus which is required by law. NOBODY even informed the parents, the school, our superintendent...needless to say i am embarassed to work for the school district. I hope the parents or the school makes a to do about it. That is uncalled for and definitely punishable.

we just had a driver leave one on the bus for a second time and she still has her job this is very unnacceptable child endangerment needs to be a firing offense the first time much less the second. Send comments to Pittsburg Unified School District, CA not PA
