Havasu is just an extension of Cali. Same old men going through the same old mid life crisis. Lets all fill are garages with big toys that pollute the air and tear up the desert. Right now I'm working diligently with the State Of Arizona to get a smog inspection system established in Mohave County. The people here have no regard for the environment they live in at all. Their license plates should all read "mines bigger or louder". Mufflers are against the law,you can tell by the noise in town. The Harley riders are nothing more than want a be M/C riders that aren't even that. Havasu is full of red neck, pro war republicans that don't give a rat about the environment or MY mother earth. I'm proud that during the Viet Nam war I burned my draft card and dodged the draft. I love to drive around 5 mph under the posted speed limit to do my part in cutting down emission levels and to slow down the arrogant old men with the street rods which are just carved up classics that were once very beautiful cars. The town is full of losers. The women are all crack whores or alcoholics cheating on their husbands. If they were going to give the country an enema Mohave County is where they would insert the tube. It is beautiful during the dead of summer because it's so hot nobody is outside! Property isn't worth anything, there's no work, the city government is corrupt and the schools turns out idiots. I just love it here.Peace/love.
And after i thought about it for a while i realized you have a sense of humor....you were just making a funny!!!

Only because...
I find it physically impossible for someone to be that totaly ignorant and still earn the prosperity necessary to purchase a computer with an internet connection...

let alone the necessary
financial requirements and the intelligence that everyone seems to have here.:):):)

Thank you your response and the answers to my questions. I hope to talk to you again soon. You seem like a normal person.
"normal" i know a few people who might argue that point:):)
but that Dave Cramer and devon clingon..same dude...notice no avitar,
same ip and same pattern of writing...might not even be a local,
and for sure, if he really is that way he doesn't go around town,
spewing his noise...most everybody here are here because they like it..a lot...and don't take kindly to people talking trash about their world....

And there is a slim chance he is some misguided fool trying to keep people from moving here...but that is kind of irrelevant..
this is a small town..maybe 50-60k people surrounded by BLM land.
BLM isn't sellin and i think there is some kind of population cap too....and it seems like this is good investment property..dad bought this house in 99 for 89k...before the economy took a dump it was appraised at 220 and it at 159 right now....

If ya want to do and end run around this forum i have a junk e-mail address so i don't have to post my real one..send me a note and i will respond from my reg one

I have some friends who moved to LHC from NW Wisconsin and they love it. Some people have moved back but they miss it there. Houses on Craigslist seem decently priced for 3 people to split costs.

I am planning on moving there for about 2 years in September because my GF was accepted to a nursing program there and she can start in fall instead of waiting 2 years for it up here.

I like how it's not far from LV, PHX, San Diego, LA, or Coachella (where I fly out to see the 3 day music and arts fest each year). The closest thing I have from me currently is Minneapolis which is 3 hours or Chicago which is 7.5 so living close to some bigger cities which I have visited/liked in the past will be nice.

Any ideas where to look for housing rentals besides craigslist? any information would be a huge help.

Thanks- WI Jeff

My husband and I also need to move to this area. He will be working in Bullhead City, AZ. He doesn't mind commuting, but we want the best area and schools for our kids. Would you recommend Lake Havasu City, or are there other surrounding towns that you would recommend? Our kids are ages 8-17. We ride/own horses, and enjoy all the outdoor and water activities. Thanks so much for the good information!

if you think lhc has crooks, you should come to jamestown north dakota. our family to are interested in moving to lhc because spending 6 months in this cold ass tundra has sucked long enough. as far as the heat goes, doesn't anyone own a swimming pool, or will next reply , no because it's so hot here, it will melt. it would be great if a descent moral person would write true and real comments about lhc so that those of us who are interested in moving there know the truth. the place looks beautiful on line. all cities have there querks. if there are any honest people living in lhc who would reply to my post, our family would appreciate it. we are in our mid 40's and do not want to spend the 2nd half of our lives fighting the cold winters. they where you down, there depressing, not seeing the sun shine for weeks. lhc sounds like heaven compared to this place. well all take care and hope for comments.:-)

I'm considering moving from Illinois. What are the property taxes like in Havasu? They are outrageous in Illinois, and I can't wait to stop paying them. Any info would be appreciated.

You are crazy for wanting to move to LHC.
There are no good jobs. If you are not set up you will have to find two jobs to survive. The pay sucks.

There are no good schools. There's too many drugs and lousy teachers for your kids.
Think Home School or Tutors.

The weather sucks. If it is 118 it is cool, 125 is the norm and that is hot any way you look at it. I was there the day it hit 128

The lake is polluted. They use it as an overflow for the sewage plant.

The people suck Every one snorts crank and can't be trusted. They will eventually get around to robbing you and back stabbing you. Its easy to tell when some one is lying to you in LHC. Their lips are moving. There is too many people in LHC from California and every one knows how bad California people suck.

The politics can be taken either way. Its the best soap opera in town and the players and show are fun to watch. But its your tax dollars that fund those fools. Can you say Recall? If not you will.
The only good things to do are to fire up the dirt bike and ride the wires. Going to the Hualapia mountains to get out of the heat or get in the snow. Boating is O.K. if you dont get in the water or get too wet. And if you go in spring and fall when the temps are moderate.

The best thing is the day your house sells so you can get out of LHC and get back to the real world.

Looks like the property taxes are pretty reasonable compared to Illinois. I'm amazed they let sewage run into the lake. Sounds very difficult to believe.

This OFFGRID guy is telling the truth.I agree with him 100%. I have been coming here to visit my folks starting back in 1989 then moved here like a moron in 2004 after meeting the typical female loser type that lives here.
There is not enough room here to write about how bad this place is. I spent this last summer in Utah and when I got home two weeks ago it confirmed why I should get the hell out of this "black hole". It really is the most pathetic place I have ever been. If someone even paid me right now what I paid for my house I would be gone in a second. It's very hard to find someone who raves about this place unless it's a drunk from California.Anyone even thinking of moving here should rent first and see what I mean first hand.

offgrid, here is the first thing that is not true. The lake is not polluted and the sewage treatment plants in no way over flow into the lake. That is absolutely false. It would be in violation of their discharge permit. The lake is one of the cleanest in the country and is the drinking water source for the one of the largest populations in the world serving almost 20 million people. Yes it gets hot for a few months but the winter weather is great. I have had kids in school for many years and i have foung the teachers to be great. Maybe its your parenting that sucks. As far as jobs, it is tough to make a living here. Unless your a cop or fireman or work for the hospital there are not very many opportunities. There is a reason this town has grown to over 50,000 people. It is a great place to live. Kids love the lake and i have found it to be a great place except for those few angry folks that every place has.

They got busted for it the worst in 1994 I know that might seem like a long time ago but it wasn't. The sewage plant was full and they discharged into the lake right on the Friday before the labor day weekend. They tried to blame it on Havasu Landing but that was down stream from where they were testing the water. They could not account for the sewage plant being empty either. Of course they tried to sweep it under the rug but they wrecked the whole weekend. There was nothing but people leaving on Saturday morning with out so much as a dip in the lake and a dollar spent. Look it up in the Havasu Herald if you dont believe me. That was the biggest time they got busted for that I remember right off hand.

I see that these writings have been quite some time ago.... so I'd like to get a feel for what's going on today in LHC. As I read the stream, I was getting discouraged...but on the other hand, unlike "moving to havasu" - I am older, my childrend are grown and I am semi-retired ... I want to move here to buy a home mainly because housing is more affordable in LHC than in Southern California where I now live. I will keep my home in So Cal and rent it out.... but I am thinking of buying in LHC .... I'm not a big fan of the heat, but from what I've read here and from what my friends have told me, there's ways to get around it. I've looked at desert options in So. Cal. but they are just THAT ... DESERT ... and least LHC has a LAKE and a RIVER ... Although I am a Calif. native and have lived there all my life... I'm very unhappy with what has happened to California. The government is ruining the once awesome state, it's bankrupt! I don't like the changes I've seen in my neighborhood and I just want out of Calif..... but not too far from my grown children who still live there. I'm feeling that I may be happy in LHC... I have a few old friends there who love it too. Any positive input would be appreciated.
