What a change from when i was a kid (not all that long ago, im only 30) All there was at Smokey Point was Jonny's where Cycle Barn now is, Van's tavern where Rite-Aid is now, and the fruit stand where Wendy's and another bank (can't remember which one it is, there are like 17 banks now in the area lol) Safeway area was all farm land....what a change indeed. The only place that basically hasn't changed is Olympia pizza house. Kind of sad in a way, its looking more and more like Lynnwood all the time. Oh yeah, Wal-Mart is also on the way, guess its not enough to have one 5 miles away, there now has to be one every 2.5 miles from each other lol.

Moved to Pony Estates in Smokey Point when I was 15, in 1980. We partied in the woods where AM/PM is. I worked at Jay Waters produce stand every summer. The Daminites (sp) owned the Olympic. There was a big sign in a field that for years read "Coming Soon! New Super-Safeway". I drank in Van's Tavern & ate at the Sandwich Barn. The I-5 overpass on 172nd was 2 lanes. Smokey Point has grown up. I've been here for the entire transformation. Anyone know where I can find photos from the old days? Thanks.

Take Care & God Bless.

Ray you mentioned the sandwich barn! Great memories there. The Van burger was as big as your face and was less than $4s. It was so.big they cut it into fours. Kind of place that would be on diners drive in amd dives if it was still there. And a sgout out to.Olympia pizza. There grinders taste the same as they did 30 years ago. I miss smokey point
