Anybody else notice the change at Lake City Middle School? I have 2 kids there and the teachers have been very helpful with helping them do well in classes. The Principal has always been helpful, he will always return my calls, and has made time to speak with me when I have had questions. This is a welcome change and my kids have told me this has been there best school year ever. Anybody else noticed this???

Too bad he hired the husband of a teacher to coach basketball. One year he's coaching rec ball the next he's the middle school coach. Pitiful

I heard at church tht nobody was interested in the coaching job and that the only people that applied were Campbell County folks wanting to try to recruit for the high school

There was at least 10 people that applied, but the new principal only interviewed Mrs Moore's husband. They are having a really bad year. He's in over his head, but at least he gets to coach his kid next year. Just like rec ball.

i feel sorry for those boys all those athletes and no one to coach them. That is a good team its just heartbreaking to watch them lose like they do.

It is sad. They could've hired Tyler Miller. He's young and coaching at Norris and would be there for awhile. He's a true laker. Oh well

Pure ignorance. Know the facts and know what you are talking about before you speak. Post with you're own name. My husband played college ball and is very knowledgable. If you know anything about coaching you would know that it takes more than a year to build a team. The boys have had a rough two years and need good coaching like they are getting now. And by the way, there were not 10 applicants.

I know the AD at the school and can verify from the earlier post that there was NOT 10 applicants. Campbell County coaches were the most interested and I was told that Coach Moore was by far the best interviewed candidate by a large margin. The principal there is not thaat consumed with winning and losing but teaching the boys skills to prepare them for high school and holding them accountable to grades and behavior expectations to prepare trhem for life. Both the boys and girls teams players have been excellent in these ares. This is a tribute to Coach Moore

The boys have had a rough two years? They made the playoffs in Pigeon Forge last year, how is that rough. They won more than they lost. Please name one other person that actually got an interview. Thanks

Riverside has very poor communication skills from my experiences. They finally got an updated web page up but every meeting with teachers AND Scarborough they ask for my email address and phone number promising contact or to send specific important material and time after time after time they FAIL. It's annoying to give them my email and number again and again and again (they have it on file!!!!) and to do it knowing they are not really going to do what they promised! It's like they just wait until I leave and throw it away like some joke! I am disappointed in this school and won't recommend it. Now I understand why all of the people I have spoken with have pulled their children out of this school.

Annnoyed, who is Riverside?? My experience with the Principal and the teachers there are wonderful. He has always ade time to speak with me even when I am dropping off my son. The teachers are very informative and they are offering homework help afterschool that has been a blessing for my poor math skills in helping my son do well in class. Maybe you just have a negative attitude because the teachers are telling you the truth about your child and sometime that hurts. I can tell you because i ask the secretary in the office. That LCMS is not losing students or having the mleave. Just the opposite most of Campbell County wants to transfer in and the current students love the school. Maybe you are talking about another middle school and have Lake City confused with Clinton

I am so glad to hear people sing the praises of the new principal. It was time for a change. Hope things continue to go well for the administration, faculty, staff, and most importantly, the students. Also glad to know that academics have been put ahead of sports.

Rumors are gorging around that Ms. Sellers is coming back. So much for the school. Her being gone has been a good move for the school. Hate to hear she will be back as that means it will go back to the way things were before. My kid has had a great year and he is in the 8th grade. He said the school year has been his best since he has gone there for the past 3 years. He talks about the positive attitude that the teachers in the school have and how everybody seems happy and friendly.

People need to call Mr Foster and the school board and let them know how we like the new principal and how positive the change has been for teachers and students.

Just wondering does anybody else have a problem with the "GREAT Principal" allowing this 7th grade feild trip....Only the top 40 A & B students were allowed to go. Any student with a C average was not allowed and only the top 40 A/B students were allowed...It has been a long standing tradition tha the LCMS 7th graders go on a 3 day feildtrip to Nashville....well since the teacher that has alway handled that is not there anymore...no trip was planned or at least the one that was planned was so expensive and so half way planned that it didnt get done....so this was the alternative...over night trip to Pigeon Forge BUT like I said only for some...I could see not allowing student with behavior problems being allowed to go...but why punish a c student..or for that matter why punish a solid B student....anyway just wondering what anybody else thought. oh and btw I called this wonderful principal some of you speak of and he acted like he didnt have the time to talk with me or discuss my concerns....more or less said to me it was his school and he made the decision there....told me I could call the school board if I didnt like it....also told me he didnt need school boards approval to approve a feild trip....I call the school board and sure enough they support his....still I just dont see how it's ok to punish a student for B's and C's.

I have no dog in the fight as my child doesn't go to school there... But I can tell you that several schools do the same thing now. They allow a certain number of students with good grades to go on a field trip as a way of REWARDING them for their hard work. It's also a motivational tool for the students that didn't make the grades. If a child was upset or disappointed about not getting to go, he or she should work that much harder to make the grades next time. We live in a world that hands out trophys to last place teams and to kids that barely participate or try. Where is the rewards for the kids that are trying to be the best at whatever they're doing? If a child is being rewarded for carrying an average grade, where is the incentive to do better?

Hate for kids to have to earn something like a trip. We should let all kids go so they learn to expect handouts no matter how they perform.
