Good places to eat in Oak Ridge/Clinton

Why are there no good places to eat in Oak Ridge or Clinton? I know, I know you are going to say but there are... I am not talking about Applebee's, Ruby's or Outback, oh and by the way these arent that good. I am talking about a really good place to eat. Fresh ingredients, like REAL beef hamburgers, not laced with some "filler", secret family recipes, new recipes that are just good. Yeah we got the Firehouse Subs, and they are good, we have Big Ed's, which is by far the best pizza in the country, but there is nowhere you can go just to get a really good meal. I say this as I am watching the Food Channel and the Top Best Places in America to eat, why do we not have these type institutions, where the people care what they are serving they go back to how dad did it, or grandpa?(Of course excluding Big Ed's, they are the only one that goes back, God Bless Big Ed, rest his soul). I am from this area and don't know of anywhere i would want to stop and get something to eat, am I missing somewhere? If I am PLEASE let me know. Is there a secret (good food, probably should specify huh?)in Oak Ridge/Clinton?????? Or even anywhere in the surrounding area?

Because you did not open that restaurant yet. No support for good restaurants in Clinton, after Wal-Mart opens and people do not have to go out of town for a Wal-Mart...then they might support a "good" restaurant.
There is a mentality in Clinton that says if it is not in Oak Ridge or Knoxville then it is not any good. This needs to change. Support your own town and county before you support others should be the mantra.

You are right. Oak Ridge is becoming such a ghost town, and drug haven. Clinton is trying to do new things, hopefully somethng will come around.

Mary Joe's Cafe in Lake City has great burgers and onion rings. Much better than fast food, and about the same price.

Hi I think you meant Mary J's?Yes her burgers are the bomb,all REAL beef!Only place in Lake City you can go for a decent burger, well Cottage has pretty good burgers too, you should give them a try to....I want to say Big Eds has pretty good pizza, but I hate the whole paper plate and flimsy fork thing they have goin on,lol.Mountain pizza in Oliver Springs has yummy pizza too!My all around fave is China Inn in Clinton, their food is awsome!

Golden Girls Restaurant is the best in my book!
Down-home cooking and scrumptious homemade desserts and ALL are reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is super-friendly and the service is great too...just can't be beat for the best place to eat.
Try the peanut butter pie, it's to die for!!

you-all should live in the bay area of Ca.you could never go to all the good places to eat.be in Tn. this month. food is not on my mind.looking at most of the people there, it should not be on yours either. GO VOLS !!

Might want to try The Little Senator operated by the DeVore's in Norris just past the Museum of Appalachia and GT Tires. Fresh beef from Archer's Market, great menu and good people. They're gonna be operating the Waterside Restaurant at what used to be the Andersonville Marina starting next month so that tells you what some folks think about their food! Nothing fancy at the Little Senator, just really good food and HUGE portions!

There's also the Buffalo Mountain Grille in Oak Ridge. They have really good beef burgers and they also have buffalo and ostrich burgers. I like most of their food. When the weather is good in the Spring and Summer they have live music on the patio, you should check it out when Dave Bailey is playing. One of their cooks is also an awesome musician. Once the kitchen closes, he comes out and plays sometimes. We really enjoy going there for supper and hanging out for the evening.

I belive its on the turnpike on the left just as you come into oak ridge from clinton. burned down a couple of years ago and they have rebuilt it. cattycornered from the soccer field. I belive it has a nature store on the end of the building.

Thanks for reminding me. We've eaten there several times. It was really good food at a fair price. If we lived nearby, I'm sure that it would be a regular stop for us.

Theres the Apple Blossom Cafe in Clinton (used to be Millers) and the Little China as well. Both have good food and both have excellent health department scores too. A friend of ours is the inspector and he says that if you are in the mood for Chinese to go to Little China its the only decent (clean/safe) one. I was dissapointed with Harrison's the last time I ate there. The service was poor and the food wasn't hot. But they may have just had a bad day.

are there any good reasonable places to rent in clinton? i lived there once before but had problems with the landlady not wanting to fix things. i dont want a trailor or an apartment. i have two kids both are toddlers and they need a place to play.

Theres a house at the end of a street right in town. An elderly couple rented for over 20 years and the husband had to go into assisted living so the house has been well maintained and the back yard is fenced in. Its at the corner of Woodhaven and Edgewood. If you turn right by Walgreens, (this is Edgewood) and go straight. You will pass Delta on your left, the following Left is Woodhaven. You will see it immediatly on your right when you turn on Woodhaven. Its a white house. I am sure the owner will rent it again. I have no idea who the owner is.

Hi just wanted to comment on Little China, I worked there many ,many moons ago and let me say this....it is the cleanest place that I have ever worked at in my life! The boss would frequent the kitchen with chlorine strips checking to see that there were enough bleach for cleaning in our water!And their food is amazing!! Very fresh and made to order, cant beat it try it soon you;ll love it trust me!

Agreed on Little China. Sue is meticulous and the food is excellent and always fresh.
