I used to enjoy playing softball in tournaments in Lake City. And even though it is not actually Lake City, I used to have fun going and swimming by the dam when they had it roped off up there. I guess it got too dangerous.

The Fourth of July fireworks celebrations used to be fun.

Before Russell Sharp purchased what he called Piggly Wiggly,Luke Luallen had this Grocery Store built and he also had what was called Luallen Hardware also, during those times where Braden Auto Parts use to be was A Grocery Store ran by White Stores and in those days Louie Massengill worked for Carl Bennett as a Mechnic in same building As to where Powell Clinch Utilities once had an office then You also had a 10 Cents Store Building on the left of the creek and in those days you had also Wilson's Grocery located next to the ballfield then you also had Webb's Grocery, Then Fin and Jack Reed who run the Propane Gas and then in those day Dick Shaw had a Shell Station and a Beer Joint and across the Street you had Blue Haven Motel owned by Woody Ayers and The Dipsi Doodle was then owned by Tom Alderson and The Amco Service Station was runned by The German Volkswagon repairman, then acrosss the street from Dipsi Doodle was Another Beer Joint before Marvin Billingsly purchase it then you had Coopers hardware and if you come to the red light at now what is called Shoprite was a bank run by Mr Alley then across the creek You had another tavern runned by Jimmy Gilbert who was the Lake City High school basketball coach and only basketball coach in Lake city's history to Win The state Basketball chamionship, then You had Wnders Clothing owned by Hood wender then on the corner Was Th old Lake city Hall and directly behind it was then the Lake City Jail then if you come up the street on your right you had Hill;s shoe repair owned by Alvin Hill and then you had Luallen Barber shop then Mrs Albright restarunt then Martin funeral Home owned by Paul Martin and then You had a essco station owned by Don Pemberton across the street you had a 10 cent store owned by Gordon Powell who was Charlie Taylor father-inlaw and charlie Taylor once ran that 10 cent store and Charlie Taylor has been the Chairmen of the Board of Powell Clinch Utulities since Hitchcock and Brenda Goodman Days I would say charlie taylor has been in charge of Powell Clinch better than 35 years plus and once held a Lake City Councilman job also,Then across the railroad you had Patterson's Appliciance and Hickey's Barber Shop then you had Disney Grocery store where the trophy shop is and the oldest Lake City businessman that was still very Active upon till a few weeks ago is Carl Dew age 90 plus who currently owns Corner Drugs.
