Shocked! I live about 8 miles away from Lake City, and we never have anything like this happen here. Surprised at how few details have been released yet.

justice4all-I am guessing you are much younger than I, but I have also noticed a trend in Calhoun County. It appears to have more suicides in proportion to it population than other areas. Maybe it just seems that way when you grew up there?

What is it with Iowa law enforcement never releasing details on murders? I know at times you don't want details out there. I understand that. But even in the crimes lately where they know what happened, they remain silent. This is not a good way to protect your citizens and let them know at least a little about what is going on!

In regards to Robyn's comment yes everyone would like to know but this is an active investigation in a small community. The people that need to know do and those that were close to the victims already know. Why does it need to be spread around the internet? This a hard time in our community and comments like that make things worse. What we all should do is take a moment of silence and say a prayer for those who lost their lives and pray God looks after them.

A terrible tragedy for this small community in Iowa. I lived there about 20 years ago and stay in touch with several folks there. Law enforcement is spread thin there, as it is in most rural counties. I'm sure they're doing the best they can with the resources they have, and more information will be forthcoming today and this week.

Why would you release anything to the papers anymoe.... All they do is make it worse then it really is....This is a bad time for all the families involved.... I think the public should take what the police said NO SUSPECTS NO DANGER TO THE PUBLIC and leave it a lone.... Focus on what is important right now the poor families of these young lives lost..... Why was this person so upset to take these lives..... Prayers to these poor families... Shame on the public :( :(

Thanks for those comments concerned, I feel the same way. I do not know the victims but do know some of the family members and think that what was important at the time was said. Around here it seems like the papers give out way too much info sometimes.

EXACTLY!!
I was searching for a post such as this. I knew someone else had to see that all of these deaths are peculiar too! I was raised in calhoun county and lived there all of my life. I moved away from there a few years ago but still have a large majority of family members there. When you live in the center of the place where the "strange happenings" occur, your eyes are blind to it. I think because the residents who live there have become so used to these strange occurances.
If someone would do a search on all of the suicides and freak accidents in Calhoun County, you would see that there are MANY! It's not normal!
I lost many family members to car accidents, motorcycle accidents and suicides as well. It seems to be a regular occurance.
Something even more odd, the house I grew up in, there were suicides surrounding our house for three blocks throughout short intervals from one another. Then, the house I grew up in, the bedroom I slept in...only a couple of weeks ago, a child of only 13 committed suicide in that bedroom.
