My son has been incarcerated at lake city for almost a year. about 2 months ago, i found out that drugs were being brought into the facility and given to "favorite" inmates so that they can be sold to other inmates. my son happened to be a buyer of these drugs. about 2 months ago, i called to put a stop to it. what action is took? they out my son is confinement where he has been for 2 months and did nothing to the inamtes and guards whowere bringing in the contraband. now here it is 2 months later he is still in confinment and no action has been took by administration. things have got worse. trustees have been messing with his food, he hasnt eaten in 3 weeks due to the nasty things they tell him they have done to his food. guards tear up all of his outgoing and ingoing mail, they refuse to let him showr, use the phone, order commissary, go to medical, etc. officer padgett...(one of the officers who bring in the drugs) has daytime watch over my son and threatens on a daily for my son to keep his mouth shut or they will let inamtes in there to jump him. i have proof that this has already happened to one inamte who just returned from RMC medical Unit because he was jumped by guards and inmates. i know my son is in pihnishment but he is still a humna and is still a son, a dad, a brother, a uncle, a grandson, a cousin, etc. i have phoned all administrative personnel in tallahassee and at lake city, so far... NO RESULTS. please help me put a stop to the violence in the system. im sure all of you remember the young man at the boot camp in panama city ...... i do not want this to be my child

My grandson has been having similar problems at Lake City. He is in protective confinement and his privileges are nil. He has had the same kind of treatment as your son. Have you tried the Citizens' Services?

Hi,I dont know if your son is still there but I have a son too that is in this prison. He tells me a lot of things that go on there. the latest being that inmates are getting sick and he believes it is from food poisoning. He said there are over 100 that have been quarintined and of course they say they dont know why they are getting sick. Dont ever call the prison and complain about anything. They will punish your loved one. I called the newspaper to see if they wanted to investigate and do a story. Never give your sons name. we need to all get together and find someone who will listen. There is way too much that is going on in these prisons. An animal is treated better then some of these prisons are treating human beings. my email is chikapee56@yahoo.com if you would like to contact me about anything. thanks

Hi, my son is also at Lake City. He said the guards come into his cell and take the things he buys from the commissary. The guards told him if he complained, he would regret it. He said on many occasions the guards would try to intimidate him and other inmates by coercing them to fight so that they would get their priviledges taken away or put into confinement. There is no oversight of these guards our kids are being abused daily. The prison institution cover things up and act like everything is perfect. We need to gather together and march on the prison or start writing the governor or our congressman. We can't let them continue abusing our children, regardless of what they have done.

A friend of mine is about to go to LCCF. He is there because he was hanging out with the wrong crowd and has learned a very valuable lesson. The fact he is in jail is his resposibility, but he should be allowed to do his time without worrying about his safety or if guards will steal from him. Jail isn't supposed to be "fun" but it shouldn't be dangerous either.

My gosh you people are amazing, Did you care so much when your little boys were out there terrorizing your community?? Hell no. Look, if they don't like the way they are being treating , oh, fuc*ing well!! Build a bridge and get over it. So your son got in trouble for buying drugs WHILE HE WAS IN PRISON. Get a life-- you think he should be treated like a person---he should start acting like one, instead of acting like an animal with his d*ck in his hand everytime a female walks into the room.
I am so sick and tired of the families of these "people' complaining about how their little angels get treated while in prison.
Let me ask you this-- Was you little boy convicted of singing too loud in church?? My guess is NO!!!
Like I said, get a life--your little boy is a piece of crap that was still breaking the law while incarcerated..What do expect to happen to him

Also, for the person that posted about the 100 or so inmates being quarintined---NEVER HAPPENED!! My husband works out there (I used too, but got tired of the administation being so soft on those little bast*rds)
Stop your bitching and complaing and start teaching your kids how to behave. Their time will be alot easier if they follow the rules!!

so, ms. "high and mighty" -- if it was YOUR child, how would YOU feel? because no mother who really cared about her child would want them to have to go through some of the things that prison brings. prison is there to punish for crimes, yes, but also to teach these people that there is another way.

and if you give me some crap about being a better mother than those whose children ended up in prison, then you're a lunatic.

like the Bible says, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." EVERYONE, including people who have committed crimes, deserves to be treated like a human. We were commanded to "love one another" as we would want to be loved. Think of how Jesus reacted to those two men on the crosses next to him...

Come to think of it... think of Jesus, period.
And have some compassion for others.

Never said I was a better mother than anyone. all I am saying is stop complaining about inmates being treated badly when they are the one's that put themselves there in the first place.
You are absolutely correct when you said that prisons are suppose to be for rehabilitation BUT, the inmates have to WANT to be rehabilitated. There are many inmates that I came in contact with that went to class everyday, went to their counseling sessions everyday and actually WORKED hard to HELP THEMSELVES. I haave all the respect in the world for those young men. But the one's that want to continue to break the law and the rules while in prison, I have absolutely no sympathy for.
Now, you as a mother, I am sorry that you have to see your child behind bars. I would never wish that on anyone, but if your child is continuing the behavior that got him there in the first place, don't complain about how he is treated.
There are many wonderful, productive citizens that are ex-convicts. I hope and pray that your child will be one of them someday. Good luck to you.

I don't now what the future holds, nobody does.....but if my child does commit a crime, gets put in prison, and continues to break the rules, I would tell her the same thing. You get what you deserve. If you break the rules, you must suffer the consequences!!

For the rest of you that are having so many issues with the treatment of your family at Lake City correctinal facility, have you ever thought to call and speak directly to the Prison inspector? She is a wonderful woman who LOVES to get "dirty" officers. So, if there is really something dirty going on out there, she would be the one to speak to and she'll find it!! Don't go thru the administration out there. honestly, they are just about money!!! But the inspector is a good, kind woman who thrives on outting "Dirty" officers.

Oh, by the way, the Officer Padgett that the first poster mentioned no longer works at LCCF. He hasn't for a few month from what I'm told.

Call the inspector!!!!! She's there all the time... She has voice mail if she's not in her office and she will call you back!!
