It is really sad for a parent to lose a child and my condolences go out to the family. On the other hand, what was a 17 year old doing with a car like that. Our society today is not teaching young people that they have to work and save for things that they want. A $35,000 car just because he made the honor roll with a 4.0 average. The grades are great and there are not many kids that can do that, but they should not be rewarded with a car like Ryan got. I think there is some blame that should be put on the parents. We are not teaching our children today to be responsible and this is very sad. I drive by some of these high schools and it just amazes me as to some of the cars that these kids drive. Some of them I cannot afford.

I agree, it is a kids job to get the best grades possible. They should look at it from the viewpoint that they are doing it to better their lives, not to satisfy their parents.

I have a car in the same price range and I can tell you the payments are terrible. I would imagine that kids with higher priced cars have no idea the cost to own one.

I will gladly help pay for insurance, and they can borrow their mom's or my car. Even if they have a job, I'd rather they save for college than get an expensive car. Why bust your a$$ as a teenager so you can have a nice car. The teenage years are too short not to enjoy yourelf (safely of course).
