Dear Bill: The last time I checked, Oak Lawn is South, and you're a Cubs fan? So don't ever let me catch you at Palermo's on 95th Street wearing your Fukudome straw hat. OK, so the president said "Comiskey Field" instead of "Sox Park." Give him a break. He's busy trying to ram through his socialized medicine plan, so some little old lady in Miami Beach can stay on the waiting list for a transplant until she's dead, while all the Chicago politicians get the good hearts and good hips. Obama wore a cool White Sox jacket, and threw lefty, and it made me so emotional that I've now decided to become a liberal and support huge tax increases on Cubs fans to level the playing field. Yes we can.

I have yet see anyone point out the irony of MLB being upset with Obama for wearing the Sox jacket instead of the All Star jacket they wanted to dictate he wear. Hmmmm....MLB is acting like the dictator and for once Obama is supporting freedom of choice? lol

But John- how COOL were those Mom-Jeans? LOL!!! Would you wear those with your "Chalkie" T-shirt? You can peddle that entire ensemble and raise funds to support old Sox fans that need health care!

It's so thoughtful of Kass's relatives to take the time to write all these convenient letters to their little columnist, setting him up so nicely to reinforce his beliefs. I did notice that Kass cherry-picked the Michael Jackson letter to represent his view of blacks, young people and liberals.
Great point as Micheal Jackson is the epitome of blacks, "young people and liberals" and all they stand for.

I believe you, John Kass, are lucky to still are allowed to write
your collumn the few days they give you to do so.
Todays comments of the type of readers on your side
make me yawn and somewhat depressed. I'm wondering
where Mike Roykos fans went and what papers they are reading these days.

I believe that President Obama called it, not "Comiskey Field"
but rather "Cominskey Field" in a conversation with Bob Costas during the All-Star game.

You seem to be assuming the letter writer was black, JLE. I don't see anywhere where this is stated as fact. I wonder how you came to this conclusion then. Certainly not based on the grammar and tone, I hope. That would imply you have certain "views" on African Americans.

Dear Helmdeep Hobbit:

Those Royko fans you are worried about are away learning to spell and compose literate sentences. Aren't you missing your class?

If John selected certain comments to respond to, so what?

After all dosn't the president require questions to be submitted in advance of a news? conference so his speech writers can feed him politically correct responses?

Hammmmmmmsssss

And change that picture. It makes you look like a Southside Smart Azz.

Oh yeah, Buehle just pitched a perfect game at The Cell. And that Racist Manager, Ozzie the Klansman, substituted Dwayne Wise for Scottie Pods in the 9th and D-Wise saved the perfect game by snagging a sure homerun and crashing off the center field wall.

Can't we all just get along people?

John , think you should come up with some creative lines when your column is not published. At least fans may be drawn to that page to see what you wrote for an excuse. In fact you could start with a paraphrase of the E Marion comment.
"John Kass decided not to go to work today".
or "John is visiting (fill in)" etc..
The Trib is looking for creative CONTENT, which you certainly provide, but this would be a contribution when you aren't being published. Think you can get that idea past the suits?
Get Abrams to push it through.

I love these puff columns with softball letters from fans. Is it too soon for another 'drunken chicken' column? "Little old lady of the future dies waiting for a transplant because of Obama's 'socialized medicine'"--right, because nobody dies waiting for transplants now? And the problem isn't delivery, it's not enough donors? Oh, never mind...
