Kara Kopetsky, 17, Missing Since May 4, 2007. Is there a Connection to Kelsey Smith Murder?

Not sure if there is a connection, but there are remarkable similarities between Kelsey Smith and Kara Kopetsky.

The day before Kara went missing she jumped out of a car to get away from a man.

Kelsey was hunted and stalked by her killer who may well have attacked another lady in the same parking lot a few weeks earlier.

They both had myspace accounts and had the same basic body type.

Both girls lived within 20 minutes of the residence of Edwin Hall in Olathe.

in Belton just a hop and skip from the place Kelsey Smith body was found.

These were planned abductions, and in Kara's case it was mishandled by a do nothing police department that is equipted only enough to write traffic tickets. They didn't look in Kara locker for two weeks after she went missing.

I would ask each girl that reads this to remove your myspace and or facebook account, we live in a world where meaningless flirtations are taken the wrong way. It is not your fault, it is however your circumstances.

In conclusion I will say that I believe one or more of Kelsey's killers is still out there, be careful!

If it weren't for the pick-up truck, I kind of wondered if the right guy was arrested. But, he hasn't denied anything. The guy in the video seemed to look alittle older than the suspect in jail, but I guess those videos can distort images somewhat. The drawing of the guy supposedly last seen with Kara resembles the guy they arrested, except in the drawing the guy had longer hair. Not to say he couldn't have gotten a haircut and grown a goatee between then and Kelsey's kidnapping. I hate to think there's a serial killer out there, but who knows these days.

we have placed posters up around my office which many people walk through every day to try and get the word out.
when things like this happen it is so easy to point the finger at something, whether that be the police, myspace, whatever... but what good will that do? i DISCOURAGE anyone from disabling their myspace accounts, but do encourage you to keep your profile set to private and only talk to people you know in real life. Myspace is doing a lot to help spread the word on missing kids and teens, and the more people on it, the more people can become aware.

This IS America and you're right - you're considered innocent until proven guilty. We need to work on the rights of a MISSING PERSON now... like consider them in desperate need of help until proven otherwise.

a suggestion -- i know some police departments use psychics to help in solving missing person cases... something the family may want to look into

in cases of missing persons it seems that everything would be worth trying (even if it seems crazy)

Thank you for posting the petition site. I gladly signed for Kara. It's hard to imagine how much you're all hurting and I would like you to know how much her disappearance along with Kelsey's murder have impacted me, and many others. We absolutely need to get the word out that every measure must be taken to educate, prevent and in the worst case, insist that law enforcement gives every missing person their "A-Game".
