It's a great tribute to the culture.

This aint no racist movie - read about it in OHA's Ka Wai Ola. It's going to be a stage play that we can all be part of. Princess Ka'iulani can be played by a Hawaiian in Ka'iulani The Island Rose
they have a website at thekaiulaniproject.com

Ding dong. Read before you speak. It's a play, and you've probably never seen it.

The Ka'iulani Project has a website which states the intentions, press coverage and mandate of the project and the play "Ka'iulani - The Island Rose". Also read Ka Wai Ola article http://www.oha.org/kawaiola/2008/12/story10.p ...

The Ka'iulani Project hopes to increase awareness of Princess Ka'iulani's heroism, and as well as producing "Ka'iulani - The Island Rose" by Jennifer Fahrni and Carol Harvie-Yamaguchi, it encourages other works such as Victoria Kneubuhl's. "Ka'iulani, A Cantata for the Theatre" to be remounted. It is a concern that Ka'iulani's true story has escaped so many Hawaiians who grew up in the islands.
The Project is particularly concerned with restoring Ka'iulani as a role model and heroine for young women. There are several issues to be address with this project. One of the more important is illustrating the similarities between her Celtic and Hawaiian roots. The Scots (also and indigenous island people) experienced a similar situation, which is one reason they have supported and continue to support the Hawaiian culture.
Our similarities are far greater than our differences.

It's ok to love haoles, but don't hate Hawaiians. Ka'iulani has a right to be heard. She's waited long enough.
