His name was Kana L Cox Jr. He was my husband. Born 4/6/59. He just had his 53rd birthday friday. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. We are truly devastated by the loss. He died from extensive brain injuries. To the person who took his life, You were in such a hurry, you didn't pay attention, and you killed my heart. my love, my soulmate. And while God says forgive, I just don't know if I can. Kana was my everything. And know I am left alone, Forced to spend the rest of my life, only remembering the way his arms felt around me. And his smell, and his voice. How many lives must be taken for people to wake up, and pay attention? I don't wish this pain on my worst enemy.

Susan, You may not have heard of me but I was Kana's girlfriend for 3 years in the early 80's. I cannot tell you how sorry I was to hear today of Kana's accident. I wish I had the right words of comfort to offer you at this time but all I can say is I'm so sorry. I am glad that Kana found you, married you and was living a life of happiness. I hope you can hang on to those happy memories as a gift from God to easy the bitterness you may be feeling. Hopefully that will help you ease into forgiveness in time. I will be praying for you.

Thank you for your words. And I am sure one day I might feel a little softer. But right now, I am minus the greatest love of my life. Holding his daughter, and trying to understand why God would take him from us so needlessly.

Susan, Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I met Kana recently through CERT training. Like you, my husband and I moved to Maui only last year. I appreciated sharing conversations with Kana about these experiences. I am holding all your family in my heart and sending you prayers of love and comfort. I offer any assistance to your family, please let me know how I can help. Kana was a part of my new Maui community and I miss him too.

There's nothing for anyone to do right now. We are just going threw the motions, and trying to figure things out. We will hold a memorial soon, and will post it in the paper, Thank you again for the heart felt words.

So sorry to learn (belatedly) of his death. I know if he had stayed on his meds, he would still be with the love of his life.

Excuse me utch, But you don't no what your talking about. He loved Rachel with all his heart, But Gloria was NOT the love of his life. Not that its anyones business, but his heart belonged to . me. His wife. And we as best friends, lovers, and soulmates, had an amazing loving, full life. And shame on you for the staying on his meds comment. You really shouldn't talk about what you don't know. Your comments affend me sir, and I resent you trying to make it seem otherwise.

Thank you Travis. I am sure he must be someone who is friends with Kana's ex wife Gloria. I am doing better for the most part. But yesterday was the six month mark, and I spent the day in bed crying. I still can't believe he's never gonna come home. I only know that I wish people could just remember that if they have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. We all have to live with our choices, and try to learn from our mistakes. Kana learned a lot from his mistakes, and was an amazing, loving, beautiful soul. I will never know the kind of love we shared again. And I have to live with that. Again Thank you. Susan
