Yes, and they are protected. States with medical marijuana don't go after patients, and the feds just announced that they won't go after patients either, provided they are in accordance with their state's laws.

Government must stop raids on medical marijuana. I have heard that the Obama administration will not seek to arrest users or suppliers. The feds will issue a new medical marijuana policy in states that allow medical marijuana under new legal guidelines issued Monday by President Obama....

Thank you for supporting safe and legal access to Medical Marijuana.

I encourage the two voters who do not feel patients should be protected to voice your concerns in the comments.

Please tell us why you feel it is ok to arrest the sick, the suffering, and the dying?

Daniel: I sense a strong hint of sarcasm.

Please tell us what your opinion is on the topic.

Yes, low level Marijuana offenders do make easy arrests.

It also ensures that law enforcement resources are wasted
harrasing marijauna consumers instead of fighting hard crime such as domestic violence, larceny, and home invasion.

It is a fact that the United States disproportionately arrests more people for low level "Drug abuse violations" [1,702,537] than we do for:

Larceny-1,266,706

Property crime-1,687,345

Other assaults-1,298,342

Driving under the influence-1,483,396

Drug abuse violations- 1,702,537

And much of that number comes from countless low-level marijuana arrests.

Which is easier, sensible and sound policy or complete deregulation.

I encourage all people to work with me to legalize access to Marijuana for medical use.

And even non-medical users should be excited about the momentum building.

Legal Cannabis is close. Drug policy and law should follow the lines of compassion and justice not administrative punishment.

Instead of throwing the book at Marijauna consumers, we should show compassion towards our fellow citizens.

Myself and others like me know that Marijuana is a good, safe medicine. The scientific community isn't out on Marijuana. The United States refuses to accept the validity of Marijuana as medicine and yet holds a patent on cannabinoids as a neuro protective.

Of course. However, the official memo still directs federal
prosecturs to pursue cases where it is apparent or it is
suspected that an enity may be hiding behind a medical marijuana
law as a front for illegal drug dealing.

Yes it's a good step but still only one stone along the path.

We must continue pressuring our senators and congressmen/women to support sensible Marijuana policy.

I have to agree that the use of pot is sometimes neccessary to ease the suffering of certain patients. It's the ABUSE of marijuana the government is trying to control...which in itself is a losing battle which law enforcement will never win. And the only reason is illegal in the first place is that marijuana isn't taxed. I personally am not a drug user and decide for myself that I don't want to partake in it. Anything can be used and abused...think about it.

At least marijuana is a natural substance that when used responsibly can bring real relief to someone in need. Not a drug marked up 1500% to fund drug companys which in turn pay off lawyers, politicians and CEO's to keep the status quo on getting rich in America through our healthcare system.

It is a shame that the Doctors do not offer that as a medication more often, I was put on so many pain medications that now I have seizures caused from one of the medications. I already have so many medical problems that I did not need anymore add to my problems. I am disabled due to my conditions and the severe PAIN. Sometimes it makes me wish I had the guts to end it all. I am tired of having no life and being discriminated against by the SSI disability Judge Dawson. I live on Morphine, Methadone, muscle relaxers anti depressants, High blood pressure meds, and I am in bed most of the day suffering with migraines and My eyes being swollen on the inside, so they hurt to move in the socket. I would much rather be making my $1,250 dollars a week rather than $450.00 a month. These Judges are truly discriminating...

I understand your frustration Miss Heatwave. Patients should be able to trust that doctors have vested interest in their well being not hell bent on accumulating insurance company kickbacks.

My good friend is afflicted with Crohns, ulcerative colitis, and severe intractable neuropathy, all of which can be effectively managed/treated with medical marijuana.

I feel for your loss of income. I was laid off earlier this year for what was said to be "excessive" absenteeism when honestly I had major medical issues that my employer refused to acknowledge or sympathize with.

The Bottom Line Folks: Marijuana is Medicine and people like Miss Heatwave do not deserve punishment for seeking to alleviate their suffering and thereby increase the quality of their lives.

Don't we all have the "right" to happiness under the Constitution? Happiness can be equated to quality of life.

Which means reasonable access to healthcare for all people., regardless of that person's economic situation.

If companies will not willingly care then we should force them to.

Without a public option, people like yourself Miss Heatwave, will continue be to treated in just this way.

I wanted to Thank you for your Input CANNABISM, I truly do appreciate it a lot. I would much rather be working than sitting at home all day every day doing nothing at all. Then we have Disability Judges who are Truly Discriminating themselves Like Judge Dawson. He had all the evidence in-front of him and two state ladies telling him that I could not work and no one would hire me because I would be a liability to anyone who hired me, he did not care. But then he has an easy job, a sit down job, he just don't have the brains to decide a Disability case, he called all the Doctors and there own state Doctor liars. I wish they would make medical marijuana Legal for Patience's with chronic medical conditions, They do need relief from pain, when morphine and methadone do not work any longer what else is there? I personally will not use marijuana unless it is given by a Doctor because then it is Legal. I just cannot do something that is illegal, even for chronic pain. But so far no Doctor of mine has offered that for pain. It took me a bit to even take the morphine and methadone because I was afraid of the side affects, I still am. I am also sorry to hear about your friend and I wish them nothing but the best, I know it is hard to see someone you care about go through so much, my heart and prayers are with you both.

You can find a doctor that will recommend medical marijuana, even if that means going outside of your primary's advice. New Mexico's law is new.

Even though docs know they won't lose their license, a lot are simply afraid or outright puppets of the Big Pharma.

That's the best news we've had on the federal side so far.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
