Today we mourned the loss of a fellow student. I don't know many of the details, and I didn't know him personally, but my heart aches for him. He ran away from home after a fight with his family about 3 or 4 days ago, and yesterday his body was found in the park behind the Ralphs. It's an apparent suicide, but the details are unknown. Since it's high school about 90% of the rumors floating around are false. He was loved by many of his classmates, and a memorial was erected in his honor with candles, flowers, pictures, and farewell cards. RIP JJ...

To take your own life at such a young age is hard to understand, but yet this teen felt life wasn't worth living. To come to this point must have been quite a journey. Is this something he thought about doing in the past or was it a impulsive act? Were there any warning signs? Perhaps his family and friends will never know. He probably didn't realize the grief and sadness his fellow students would have over his suicide; it's too bad because maybe things would have turned out differently if he did know. People can only speculate on what J.J. was thinking. To all those effected by this death I am truly sorry.

Just in shock, you always think "not in my community" and here it happens, on a trail I often walk along with my children, just houses away. From what I heard his throat was cut twice, he appeared to have staggered a little ways as he left a trail before falling. This young man lived just a few streets over, where a candlelight vigil was held last night. There will be another gathering after school at the community center. It is hard to absorb right now, as I have 2 kids at Laguna, one in class with JJ. My child was just telling me a story about him and some friends a little over a week ago. To see friends of my children who were close to JJ is even more difficult, 14 is still so young. My heart goes out to JJ's family and especially his younger sister.
I am suprised the media hasn't picked up on this

There is no way he committed suicide. If you knew him, you'd know there is no way he could have done that. It had to have been murder.

Being a neighbor of J's, it is hard to believe something like this would happen. He was one of my good friends and he will forever be loved. I can never beleive that this kid would kill himself, there was somthing else going on. J was an "A" student who was kind and careing to everyone... He would never do this to himself someone did this to him. He will forever be in my heart along with, his family friends and teachers.
We will miss you J.J.Y

No it was not murder. My mother goes to an emergency preparedness meeting and she told me there are police and firefighters present in the classes. I asked her to ask them about Jasha. They told her that it was an obvious suicide and they're absolutely positive it was suicide. There was absolutely no evidence that there was foul play involved. So unfortunately, "Anonymous", he took his own life. He ran away around Saturday or Sunday and they found his body on Wednesday. He slit his throat twice. This has no correlation with the creepy kidnapper in Aliso. This really hit home for a lot of people, and my school is in shock. Today we wore maroon, Jasha's favorite color, in honor of him. The reason why he ran away is because he got in a fight with his parents, and apparently his step-father was abusive. Jasha's problems were known, many of his friends knew he had problems, but no one saw this coming. Kids couldn't stop crying throughout the day, his teachers were crying as well. Those of us who didn't know him cried for him, and today I went to his memorial at our school . There's a poster for him, saying RIP and his friends and classmates wrote their farewells on it. My ex-boyfriend's younger sister was very good friends with Jasha, when he ran away she cried for days. She was crushed when she heard of his death. I've been watching the news carefully and there is no coverage on Jasha. "Taking it all in", what grade is your other child? If you don't mind me asking. I'm a junior and just happen to be curious. If you're uncomfortable with that then that's fine. But I might know them.

There's a possibility that the media doesn't want to report on a suicide, murder is much more exciting to them. Or the family didn't want media coverage, or Laguna Hills might be a little off their radar, especially since there's so much attention on the creepy kidnapper in Aliso.

Well FRIEND and LAGHIKID, you've been misinformed. My mom talked to firefighters and policemen and they told her they were positive it was suicide, and no evidence of foul play. They aren't even considering suicide. I myself went through problems and am still battling them, and people with problems like that learn how to hide them. I am much better now because I got help, but I "relapse" every so often. And my friends always have trouble sensing it. The first time my problems became serious was when I was 14. I was suicidal and did a lot of self destructive things but no one knew because I was good at acting like everything was ok and hiding it. And unfortunately he felt that he had no other alternative. The reason why I'm still here today is because eventually my friends caught onto me and took care of me. If Jasha had confided in his friends or someone like a teacher they could've helped him. I just hope that his friends and family can stay strong through this ordeal, and my thoughts and prayers go out to them.

It doesn't sound like he was the type of person to commit suicide. It may not be in the news yet because police are still investigating and don't want any information that only the killer would know to get out. Two slits and a trail of blood? Why would he be walking if he was committing suicide? One might think he would sit quietly. Possibly he was trying to get help.

I am tired of guessing and hearing rumors about what happened to Jasha. i want to hear the whole truth. I WANT MEDIA! the longer they put off putting this in the media the less likely they will ever do it. we all need to do something that will make the media look at this! I WANT ANSWERS!

Jasha - we love you so much and you will remain forever in our hearts. I know you must have been suffering terribly to have taken such drastic measures. I only wish I had been able to help you. I pray that you are with your REAL father and with our ONE AND ONLY God in Heaven.
