Wonder what everyone thinks about the new districts proposed in football. Macon would stay in 4a, but be in this district: Region 5: Beech, Gallatin, Kenwood, Macon Co., Maplewood, Northwest, Portland, Springfield, West Creek, Whites Creek
All youu hicks cried when we brought in Pemberton and payed him big money saying it wasn't fair, eventually running him off. When are you gonna realize MCHS has right at 1,000 students and is no longer playing teams like Jackson Co, Celina, and Gordonsville. If we are gonna compete with the big schools our size, we need to do as they do. 3 coaches and 40 kids on the team like 1984 won't work in big time football. We would get killed.

With that schedule, Trousdale and Smith Co would be our two non district games and easiest teams on the schedule. Better have an average of 18 kids per grade playing for 65-75 guys on team. You try and play iron man football verse Gallatin and Beach, you will get beat 70-0. We better get are heads out of are arses and evolve the program up to 2012 standards. I know personally Beech has 2 freshman coaches, 2 b-team coaches and 5 varsity coaches. That's 9 coaches and about 90 players. With 980 students, 475 boys......surely we could get 75 boys out on the team. If not, just drop the damnn program and stop the embarassment.

like track and field......ever since the mid 90's when that first boy used to run down hwy 52, MCHS has been very good at it. Gattis does a good job.

Hee hee You bunch of cry babies. MCHS will do just fine in football this year. It is not all about the win as much as how you play the game. AND playing the game with some of you idiot fans is a riot.

When they go 1-9, we will see how you change your attitude. I agree, MC is stuck in 1984 with 45 kids and best 8 kids playing iron man football. Have not had a kid sign a full schoolrship in decades. Don't want to pay for a good coach, and when we finally do, we run him out of town over jealousy. 3 coaches, 45 players in the new proposed district will have us at 0-10. We need at least 4 quality varsity coaches and 2 freshman coaches minimum. That don't count volinteer coaches or coaches who never even played in college. Need 70-80 players out. I don't see this happening.same old Macon! And some say " we don't have atheletes(blacks)", but either did Greeneville and they stompped Maplewood in the 4a championship. Maryville don't either, and they win at 6a level. Its all about a quality program, which we never had. Closest we had was back around 87-90, and 2010-2011 but ran both coaches off before they could get the program really going.

The fun has been taken out of the game at the high school level. The kids have become less interested. More likely it was the internet, cell phones, cable, ethernet, nintendo, playstation, computer technology , and other modern distractions that has killed high school football

that's only in Macon. Smith co is way smaller than Macon, and will have 90-100 kids playing. Macon will struggke to have 40 kids dress this year.

MC would have finished at best 4th in region 4a last year. If this new plan goes through best thing MC can do is kill the program, no hope to ever win in that region. FCS, Gville and TC would have beat last years team by 2TD's easy. 0 D and an offense that could score but would shoot themselves in the foot more often than not.

Sad to say a once proud tradition is no more.

I keep hearing about this wonderfull tradition of football in Macon? When was it? I been here since 84, and we have had 1 team I would consider a good team. Most years we don't even have a winning record. I mean Yale was a football power back in a day, but come on.

The reason we don't have that many players is because our coaches does not know how to keep the players happy.

Until we get a coach we(the players) actually like..They'll be more players.

Everyone in the locker rooms still talk about how much they wish Gooslby was back.
