I am wondering if this is happening to other people.
My sisters Doctors office called today and told her to bring in all of her prescriptions for a pill count. My sister felt insulted . the doctors office also has regularly made her take drug tests which my sister has to pay for and are very expensive.
Are all Doctors offices doing this now ?

She's not doing anything wrong and has the correct pill quantities...because she takes them as prescribed. I was just wondering if this is just some new thing they do now...It's plain to see that she takes her medication because they do drug tests regularly to see that its in her system.

Well if she is not doing anything wrong, then what is there to be worried about ??? From my understanding, this policy is enforce with most of the Local Pain Clinics ????? And reason being is because of people like my friend here, well I will call her Sally---not her true name but anyways, Sally would go to the Dr this afternoon at 3:00 pm say for instance and then she would have all 120 count of her pills NARCOTICS sold before she ever made it home.......That is the reason they enforce those kinds of things now Beaner!!!!! Plus not to mention the other shit she would get with it...Let me tell ya Sally she lived the life, making the money and staying messed up...TILL ONE DAY!

what dr office does she go to? i do know a lot of office are doing that cause i lot of people go to the dr and say something hurts just to sell them cause they have the pills sold even before they get them. its sad that it has to come to that. how much is she paying for the drug screens? she must not have any ins. and they do the pill counts if the drug screens come back wrong or someone called and said that a pt of the office was selling them, the dr was just doing there job and why cause such a fuss if she isnt doing any thing wrong. sounds like she may be guilty.

Well of course there is a purpose for this and it is insulting but unfortunately the way it has to be. An addict or someone selling their scripts also known as a dealer in court, is the cause for this type behavior. It is bad that people who have nothing to worry about do have to go through this because no the insurance companies do not pay for these required drug screens, and they are quite expensive. Year afer year, the court system is clogged up with people selling prescription meds and those same people often dr shop as well. This is not just Tn Care patients it is the well dressed person next door too. It is a sad day for sure, but to answer the question no it is not just your friend but several doctors offices.

Like some of the posters here say, we have the junkies to blame for this. If Tenncare would just refuse to cover pain except in cases of terminal illness that would put a big slowdown to it.
Most of you recall Dr Ladd a few years back. In the newspaper article, I recalled the receptionist asking him why a certain patient was driving from 4 (thats FOUR) counties away. His response was "A junkie will drive anywhere for his next fix."

Another thing you will run into is don't worry about calling police to report "stolen drugs" as they will no longer do a report because the junkie who has just sold his pills this morning can take that report get another prescription filled. These bottom feeders are pretty smart.
Maybe we should just do away with Tenncare and go back to the old Medicaid system like the other 49 states still do. 1 out of every 5 dollars of state tax money goes to fund Tenncare. That is 20% of the states budget. Might even stop some of the illegals coming here.

I'm delighted to hear that doctor's offices are doing this. It's about time. Good for them.

New law. If you test positive for any illegal substance then you are barred from being able to get a prescription for any and all schedule drugs. Too many junkies out there getting dope on our Tenncare dollars and taking and selling it then attempting to file a false police report about "someone stole my dope" then getting another prescript. Fortunately no police department or sheriff's office will fill out a "stolen drugs" report any more Without that report you can't get a rescript so to the junkies I say HA HA. About time the state did something about this.

This is not always to do pill counts or even because they are suspicious that you are selling drugs. A lot of people, especially the elderly, see multiple specialists as well as their PCP. The specialists often change some of their medications and having a patient bring their meds in at every visit is the only way to keep up with what has been added or changed.

totally agree..if the law makers passed a bill that made "pill counting" mandatory it would really cut into the drug selling business. But they (lawmakers) too busy right now trying to keep AT&T from cutting in on NCTC'S profits. Wonder how many of them lawmakers got stock options with NCTC??

Read the post again u smart mouth shit for brains ignorant illiterate "inbred". I used the word "cut" in the comment. I did not say that mandatory pill counts would end the sale of drugs...however it would help to curb it. The idiots doing that are making it difficult for a illegit user to get their meds.
