School bullying?is that a joke? They don't see it as that they see it as who you are and if they like you or not. they have a book that everyone gets at the start of the year you know the "Rules". policy says each child in entitled to a safe education. THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED if they let kiddos bully. but when a kid feels threatened by another and takes up for him/her self then they are the one to get punished. Bad enough the child is already being verbably beat up then the school punishes them to? I dont care to tell you that if a child has a record of being in trouble in the past for the same kind of bullying chances are they are still being bullys! I have raised my children to not start anything at school but sure not take it. My child is a good student has a love for school helps out anyone at anytime she fell VICTIM to a bully. The first time she walked away, the second time she as i would say handled it, yes she beat the time out of the other child but i call it self defence. This child that was bullying has been in trouble but, this time no punishment. The bully learned that if they dont hit back they dont get into trouble. I do not beleive in hitting but, sometimes kids dont see it that way. 5 days ALC which she did not receive the lessons on time to stay on track, court with a 10.00 fine for assault.121.50 court cost.(How is a child to pay this when in school not of age to work)10 bucks to get the other child to leave her alone,121.50 to the county, my childs education priceless!oh and probation: report to an officer every 3 weeks, take a drug test with a stranger watching her, 9 p.m curfew under such a watchful eye. but yet the bully comes out smelling like roses. so what is your opinion?

My opinion is that yes, it's extremely important the students learn, but equally important is they are given an opportunity to learn in a non-threatening environment. Let's face it, how can a kid learn if they are afraid or embarrassed the whole time they are at school. I think the school system is responsible for the kid's activities while they are at school, because, no matter what I teach my child at home, it doesn't mean they will not be bullied at school. I don't know how much training teachers get to recognize and handle this kind of thing, but they miss it a lot of the time. Most of the time when a kid is being bullied they are withdrawn, their grades drop, they start missing more, etc. These are things teachers, principals, coaches, and guidance counselors should pay attention to, instead of just failing or punishing that child. My nephew was not being bullied at school, but completely changed after his father died. His grades dropped, he skipped school, he dyed his hair black, and wore all black, in other words, a completely changed person. No one in school noticed the change, no one asked him what was wrong, even though I'm sure they knew his father just passed. But, the bottom line is they didn't care. They did not try to help him. Instead, they spoke down to him, threatened to expel him, but no help. Some school employees only do it for a paycheck, the ones who turn their head the other way, and some try to make an impact on a child's life in a positive way. I'm sure we can all remember the teachers we just could not stand, the ones we could not flourish under; and then there were the ones who we loved and would have studied for just because they were a great teacher, we felt like they really cared. Bullying impacts people for years or their entire lives, it causes teen suicides, drug abuse, alcoholism, murder, depression, and the list goes on.

Hmmm... I see more bullying from the "popular" kids then from anyone else. I hate every single popular kid in our school because they are all rude mean and jerks

This statement above is not true. Thats called sterotyping. That would be like saying every smart person is a nerd or ever person that plays video games is overweight. Dont just single out one group of people and then put them all together.

I think some teachers are bullies.B/c I have a techer that complains abt my child every single day.An it is kinda funny that everybodyelse like Church people and family members and some teachers say my child is really wonderful. My child has been tested really high for the childs age. Now,the teacher wants my child out of her room.So the school wants to put the child on ADHD MEDS? Which the child don't need. They want to put child in Resource rm? Now,they want even let me visit my child in school? Ok I know my child isn't perfect. But,seriously everyday a complaint comes home from the teacher and so I asked if I could sit in for the day or an hour.An I said If the child is bad I will take the child to the bathroom and take care of it.The teacher said it was against the law to sit in your childs classroom and the Principal agreeed w/ the teacher. So,I don't think they should punish my child for so many stupid reasons.Let me watch from afar and let me judge it. Chewing on a pencil is a bad behavor,If you drop your book one time that is bad behavor. An on and on.Each time my child gets punished.I call the teacher every night to ask what did the child do today?B/c I listen to her side first b/c she is the adult. An everytime it is for something stupid!!!!Please, let me know does this sound like bullying to you?

I agree with all of you ! The teachers turn their heads to several ! Just recently their was a girl and a group of her friends starting crap every single day for over a month with some kids ! She was making very serious threats ! One teacher out of several witnessed all of this and stood up for the kids being bullied , but the principle would not take action ! Instead she made excuses " she is pregnant and its hormones making her act like that " My heart goes out to a young girl pregnant but its no excuse !It took parents whose children was not being bullied but witnessed to take a stand and call everyday until action was finally taken ! No my child was not involved but she was concerned for the other students so i did firmly and loudly stand my ground ! I will not sit back and allow my child to bully anyone nor will I sit back and allow my child or anyones child to be bullied !

i agree, but sometimes our school leaders bully a student because of something a parent tells them,so they single this student out and they get in trouble for what over half of mchs's students do every day,not right at all!

The people at all the schools system have bullying in them.I have a first grader that is being bullied every day at the school and the teachers, principle nor anyone else do nothing to prevent it.If something happens to my child because of bullying the whole world will know about it.The teachers are just as bad as the students.
