How many of you know that a gun was found last week at school? That is what I thought! No one knows because it is being kept quiet due to who it is! Is it fair that a teachers child can bring a gun and get away with it. I would love to see how many even knows what I am talking about.

If you are a parent in Macon County, Tennessee you have an obligation to call the director of school and let her know where you stand on this issue.call your board member, call your school, call your local paper, call someone and let then know that showing favoritism isn't fair.

What kind of so called "medical condition" would cause you to bring a gun to school ?

I think everyone needs to get the facts straight. First of all this is a minor child, so his name should not be posted. Second he did not walk away with a slap. He is being punished according to policy. Third whatever did or did not happen is not to be discussed with any of you by the school system because that is the LAW.
Does it matter

Good question. I can't think of a medical condition that my child would be able to get away with bringing a gun, but it I
Looks like it is going to happen!

wait abbanaj this is what handbook says
According to school rules handbook Description Code 6.316 Suspension/Expulsion/Remand
Reason number 6.
Possession of a pistol, gun, or firearm on school property.
so going to games is not the law. I do agree names should not have been said

And also according to LAW children with special education get different discipline how about you look that one up! I'm certain that your children are not perfect and neither are you. But maybe if you would spend a little more time worrying about yourself instead of other people then life would be a little better. And I am also certain that a child who hunts and is a boy! In Macon county would defiantly know the difference between a real gun or not. And it wasn't real and couldn't kill anyone. So get your facts straight and just the crap up

I'm sorry, but i don't teach my child to take the time to check the gun out to make sure it is toy are not!! She has been told to go the other direction as fast as possible. And the kids are already on edge cause of the recent events. It shouldn't have been on school property period!! Doesn't matter who brought it!! Any child that wasn't raised around guns; wouldn't know the difference right away. The student whomever they are; should have been dealt with just like anyone else. Any other way is seen as unfair. can't treat one different than the rest. If you do then kids rebel. Fair is Fair!!!! AND ALL PARENTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Not our kids

Come on people these are our kids. yes, it was a toy THIS time. What if it hadnt been a toy. How many other things like this have been hidden or swept under the rug for fear of the parents finding out. I'm sure the board knows this has happened. I know that everyone needs there job just as I do. If this was not followed thru, BY THE RULES as stated by the Board, then all who were involved should be fired. This comes down to the safety of our children and things of this nature should NOT be tolerated. This occurrance should be used to set an example. If they all can't seem to follow the rules, then get them out and put someone in their job who will.

The student in question is not a special education student. But if he was, and his parents chose to mainstream him with other students, he should receive the same punishments those other students would receive. Maybe you should get your facts straight.

Look up the ZERO TOLERANCE policy on the school system's website, then tell me he was punished according to policy.

ok this is from a airsoft company that even know the rules of school.
Airsoft Guns in Schools One of the potential problems that can arise is when children bring their airsoft guns to school. Many children donít realize that even though their airsoft guns are toys, they are not appropriate items to bring into the classroom or onto school grounds. As a result of this lack of understanding on the childís part, disruption and panic can ensue. On top of that, with the recent zero-tolerance policy regarding bringing weapons (whether real or otherwise) onto school property, there may be serious repercussions. So, if you are a parent reading this, be aware that if your child brings an airsoft gun to school they may be suspended, expelled, or possibly arrested. If you are a student please make responsible choices by not bringing your airsoft gun to school or playing on or near school grounds.

If you are paying dues to the teachers' union, you and your children can do whatever you want.
