Stephanie,
Please tell the whole truth about the Miss Hampton controversy. She’s a senior transfer student from VCU who “attends” Hampton from a satellite building in Virginia Beach. She doesn’t know the school or the students who go there. And the students don’t know her. THAT’S the root of the controversy. Miss Hampton herself diverted the issue to race when she wrote President Obama—then made her letter public. Of course some people will be slow to accept a non-black homecoming queen but, as you’ve already reported, most students had no problem with it. For other reasons entirely, she simply does not represent the school or the student body.

Hi Stephanie,

I just saw the story about the couple who lives in their burned house, and would like to help. I am getting some people together, and we could at least go there to clean up and maybe even make minor repairs, as long as the house is not condemmed. Can you please give me more info on whom to call to get that accomplished?

Thank you

Really enjoy your news coverage.

However, last week you used the word "SNUK" instead of "sneaked". There is no such word as "snuk".

The conjugation if sneak is: sneak, sneaked, sneaked.

I know lots of folks use "snuk", but it just ain't right to hear it on the TV news. Ha.

Thanks for the great job you guys do in bringing us the local news.

Craig,

According to the American Century Dictionary, Although in formal writing the form sneaked is usually preferred, snuck has become an accepted variant in colloquial use.
