I think the punishment for first time offenders should be a minimum of 1 year in jail period. That way everybody who drinks and then gets behind the wheel knows, it won't be a slap on the wrist. You are going straight to jail and not passing go to collect anything but time.

Amber, Fortunately for you, you have no idea what you are talking about. "mr delarosa he was extremely sorry for what happened" I bet he is! Sorry he couldn't run from the police like his friends did. I'm only sorry that my nephew had to be the one to die and not mr. delarosa. I'm sure he'll be sorry...real sorry.

Amber... i think ur a freaking moron... Jimmy was 9 years old and was killed because some idiot wanted to be driving around with drugs in his system. Jimmy was an innocent little boy. I dont believe he did anything to Mr. delarosa to die for it... All jimmy was doin was riding his bike. i cant believe you want him to have less of a sentence!

So what you're saying is that he accidentally got drunk? Or was him driving that way the accidental part? While it is possible that he never would have killed that little boy while sober, he did do it when he was drunk, and that was no accident. And no, he did not "hurt that little boy" as you would try to down play it. He did however MURDER that child.

I have known the DeBoy family my entire life. For that drunk to have the nerve to get into a vehicle makes me sick. Jimmy was a great boy who deserved to live his full life. I love him and his family; and you few people that are taking pitty for that man that killed Jimmy. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You are always in our hearts. forever and ever bud.

I completely agree with my sister amber because cesar delarosa is my dad and i know him very well and he would never have done any of that intentionally. i think that it is sad that everyone thinks he targeted somebody it was an accident.Accidents happen all the time unfortunatly it was a horrible accident and my dad would want nothing more than to switch places with him. I think that everyone needs to take a second and really think about this who would want to do something like that honestly and if you believe this then god help you all!

first of all before slamming amber you all need to realize this is a 16 year old girl who loves her stepfather i am cesar's wife it was a terrible accident and unfortunately it caused a terrible loss cesar will regret this for the rest of his life he made a terrible mistake but it was an accident our family is terribly sorry but he is not a monster this was no deliberate act and he would do anything to change it if he could he can not he made a poor choice and he is paying for it he can only go forward and try to give back in some way he is a fine man i love him and will always stand behind him it is only up to god to judge us all hes been tried and sentenced lets lay it to rest

Lay WHAT to rest?? Do you honestly expect the family, friends and the community to forgive, or better yet "lay it to rest" the fact that your husband took a part of their souls. Lets turn the table and say it was your little boy or "16 year old girl" Im certian you could not expect any less, that is unless you too have been guilty of driving intoxicated, or with drugs in your system. I believe I speak for many when I say that I will stand behind this family, in mourn of a tremendous loss, and NEVER LAY IT TO REST!!!!

Lay What to rest? The fact that this family suffers every day with reminders of a child that was ripped from their lives so this "fine man" of yours was able to continue his? Let's turn the tables and say it was your little boy or "16 year old" Im sure you would feel the same, every second. That is unless you too are guilty of driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Then I guess you would expect to "forget" and forgiveness would come easy to you. I believe I speak for many when I say its a shame for the loss this family and community is suffering. How dare you expect us to "lay it to rest"

I am a college student writing about my cousin's death for the first time. It has really made me think. 4 yrs later. im sure amber and her mother are sad but u do still get to see your husband when he gets out. my family has been forever changed. there will always be a spot missing. I didnt think writing this paper and coming across this site would have stirred up so many feelings but i can still hear my dad telling me my cousin is never coming back. and that my mom and her sister have never had the same relationship since this accident. it has affected us to a point that will never be changed. a man took drugs, 3 different kinds to be exact. then drank and GOT INTO A CAR. hello u dont think thats wrong. no he didnt target Jimmy but he got in that car behind the wheel and killed someone. and u dont think he deserves the time he was sentanced. I dont get it. if on good behavior he will still be out in less time than jimmy was alive.
